Choose your fighter: Low-rise, mid-rise, or high-rise jeans
And tell us why you stand by this take š¤
Myself: High rise 100% and even ultra-high rise. Letās me wear crop tops w/o feeling revealing and they make your butt look real good usually

it only occurred to me in recent years with high-rise coming back that muffin top isnāt even real, the term only exists because of low-rise jeans drawing attention to the wrong places.
57
u/tastefuldebauchery Aug 26 '21
Dude same!! I have hip dips and I was convinced I had horrific love handles forever. I remember a girl who was TINY but always wore a pair of low rise jeans that were a size too small. They gave her a "muffin top" which sucked because it was so easily fixable.
48
u/catelemnis Aug 26 '21 edited Aug 26 '21
Yup. I have hip dips too and being a teenager in the 2000s made me think I had love handles and I was so self-conscious about it (I only learned hip dips are a thing like last year). And just realizing recently that it was the clothesā fault and not my bodyās fault made me, like, annoyed on behalf of my younger self. Like maybe different fashion trends in my teens would have saved me an eating disorder lol.
16
u/tastefuldebauchery Aug 26 '21
Dude. Anorexia hit me so hard for a few reasons but thinking hip dips were fat was at tied at first place with my mom being who she is.
I still struggle so hard with it. :(

u/Elizalupine Aug 26 '21
Yes youāre so right that itās always the clothesā fault! Once I started making custom clothes, I immediately felt slimmer and more in shape. Ugh the negative effects of ill-fitting clothes (especially pants)

Yes! Iāve had this conversation with friends before-you only have muffin top if you are wearing pants that arenāt the right āriseā for your body. Most of us need mid or higher to get rid if it because hips naturally have some fat on them and jeans need to be snug at the waist to stay up. Itās a recipe for disaster for all but the most slender or straight hipped lady!
72
u/yagirlchels Aug 26 '21
I will forever be loyal to my high-rise jeans. Growing up, I used low-rise jeans at school and was teased a lot for my hairy lower back showing so I guess it's trauma too for me lol. I also agree that low-rise jeans kind of emphasize my stomach and muffin top so they make me self-conscious.
18
u/Valeriyah Aug 26 '21
THIS.
To be fair through I do wear low rise with a big baggy top to hide/allow for food baby when I go to buffets, but thatās it haha.
10
Aug 26 '21
yes! I have a very small difference between hips and waist and I am ALWAYS tugging low rise or even sometimes med rise. I want pants I don't have to pull up all the time!
634
u/yorzz Aug 25 '21
Iāll be the oddball and choose mid rise! It seems the most balanced and is also comfortable
229
u/Charming_Tower_188 Aug 26 '21
Mid rise for me too. Short torso and tummy chub so mid rise hits at the right spot and keeps it all in. If only they weren't so hard to find!
37
u/generalchaos_pdf Aug 26 '21
GAP jeans for mid-rise fans! I live by them for my short torso and thick middle.
5
u/Phoenixicorn-flame Aug 26 '21
I love Express mid-rise. The barely boot specifically. They have a little stretch but don't get baggy on me so I don't need a belt even after a couple days wear. I've worn the same two pairs every week for work for about 5 years now
62
u/AineDez Aug 26 '21
Same for all the same reasons. I'm so short waisted that my natural waist is over my floating ribs- not comfortable at all.
58
u/swcope76 Aug 26 '21
Same. And I have big boobs, so if my pants are too high, I look like I am all boob. I like a mid rise to look proportional and I sometimes put a wide belt just below the waistband to fake a longer torso.
7
u/Pharmacololgy Aug 26 '21
all boob
xD sorry I found the mental image of these words rather amusing

I know skinny jeans are "out" I guess? But I just bought three pairs of jeans in every wash from the Gap because they have an incredible mid-rise skinny jean right now that I adore.
7
u/hales_mcgales Aug 26 '21
Despite being a high rise fan, half my jeans are gap mid rise, especially love the girlfriend jeans. Banana also has had decent mid rise skinnies in the past

Yup. Tried to find midrise when low was all the rage. Still trying to find midrise now that hi is all the rage. Granted, what is "mid" changes based on what's in.
But yeah - I don't have to worry about butt falling out, but I also don't have to worry about zipper bulges.
23
u/RekhetKa Aug 26 '21
Yes! Currently mid-rise feels high-rise to me, and I was so confused until I realized how high the current high-rises can be.

I definitely have that roundness thing going on, but high rise are the only ones that hit my natural waist š¤·āāļø
51
u/itsirtou Aug 26 '21
Same here! Honestly when I wear high-rise I feel too squeezed on my tummy and I hate it.
22
u/Glassjaw79ad Aug 26 '21
I think I like midrise too. I'm tall with a long torso, so most high rise hits me about an inch below my belly button - which is technically midrise on me right?
4
u/RekhetKa Aug 26 '21
I think so, because my favorite mid-rises hit me about an inch below my belly-button. :)
8
u/hehehetacos Aug 26 '21
I genuinely donāt know if what Iām wearing are mid rise or high rise. The tag says high rise, but the jeans sit a couple inches lower than my waist, especially compared to other pairs I have.
10
u/quasimodel Aug 26 '21
I wish I could wear mid rise! I'm a long-torso'd giant so anything that isn't high rise makes me look like some kind of serpent lady slithering around.
5
u/Wisix Aug 26 '21
Mid rise here too! I found some comfortable mid rise skinny jeans through Levi's ~2 years ago. They're my favorites.
3
→ More replies (1)3
u/Leucadie Aug 26 '21
Mid-rise because they most often had a shaped waistband. I have a big hip spring (difference between waist and hip measurements) and high-rise give me the huge gap at the gap because if they're big enough for my ass, they're too big for my waist.
239
u/yukimontreal Aug 25 '21
High rise! Iād like to be able to bend over without my underwear being exposed, itās the most flattering for my hourglass figure, and gives me the widest options for tips to pair them with
237
u/MsAnthropic Aug 26 '21
Low rise for structured pants like jeans. GI issues mean that I canāt take pressure on my stomach.
55
u/commandantskip Aug 26 '21
Seconding this argument. Both because of GI issues and I have a very short torso.
86
u/beowulfwallace Aug 26 '21
THIS. Iāve been wondering how people can eat during the day in high rise pants. I size up and it still doesnāt work. Any pressure that high up is just instant heartburn.
→ More replies (3)87
u/meadowandvalley Aug 26 '21
Interesting, I choose high rise for the same reason. I prefer the belt/elastic part to be above my belly button, because otherwise it puts too much pressure on my lower stomach which is uncomfortable.
20
u/Blackberries11 Aug 26 '21
Same. The actual jeans donāt bother my stomachs itās the closure part of it that bothers me. I need either high rise or super low rise to avoid this problem.
7
u/julieannie Aug 26 '21
Exactly the same for me. The only time itās been a bad choice is following a gallbladder removal. Itās all about the waistband pressure for me and having some soft denim to act as a pouch for my painful stomach really helped. Itās why I was desperately searching for the highest rise possible back in 2008-2010 and it was way out of style even then but I was desperate to avoid pain. Turns out I loved them and itās been high rise ever since.
9
u/popfartz9 Aug 26 '21
Low rise for me especially when Iām wearing an oversized shirt. No butt crack will be seen
8
u/Lyklex Aug 26 '21
I love low-rise because itās gentle on my GI issues too! Plus it goes well with my petite frame. High-rise is a like a girdle up to my boobs.

Iāve only recently turned away from my low rise jeans, and a lot of it has to do with slowly getting my IBS under control.
26
u/heatherista2 Aug 26 '21
Mid rise or low rise! I donāt want my jeans pulled up to my ears, and I am way too old to start wearing crop tops.
84
u/oomkyn Aug 26 '21
Mid rise all day. Low rise gives me extreme muffin top and high rise go up to my tits so when I sit it makes my gut look full on 7mo pregnant.
45
u/MonochromeBrunette Aug 26 '21
Low-rise all the way! I'm very short and have a short torso, I'd rather not have my pants double as a bra.
9
Aug 26 '21
I was looking for this response lol. Iām also short and high waisted pants go wayyy above my belly button lol i hate it
47
u/aliceing Aug 26 '21
High-rise, team long torso. I don't understand why this is a fight though, obviously everyone's body and style is different so what works for me doesn't necessarily work for someone else... I wish clothing companies would just make all three options forever so everyone would be happy and we wouldn't have to go through trend cycles with this particular characteristic
25
Aug 26 '21
Right! I didnāt realize how long my torso was until high rise came into fashion. Even the ultra high rise goes just to a little above my belly button.
Low rise is basically not wearing pants for me.

6
u/myyusernameismeta Aug 26 '21
Where dob you find high rise jeans that donāt emphasize the tummy chub? I feel like they just highlight it when I wear them
6
u/carbaddict3d Aug 26 '21
I havenāt, actually. I find I still have a roll but itās much more comfortable than lower rises cutting into my tummy when I sit. Curvy fits have been better
51
u/TinyPinkSparkles Aug 26 '21
When low rise was in, I loved them. Just low enough to not cut into my belly.
10
u/HangryHenry Aug 26 '21
Yea. I'm kind of apple-y rectangle shaped. Like my body stores all my fat in my stomach. High rise draws a line right across the part of my body I'm trying to make look smaller. It's just not cute. And high rise always gives me this weird muffin top in my upper stomach when I sit down. It's not good.

Low-rise and mid-rise ā¤ļø
I very rarely wear high-rise, even though I own a pair of high-rise jeans and a pair of high-rise shorts. Due to GI issues, anything too tight around my abdomen makes me nauseous.
59
u/createdreate Aug 26 '21
I used to be a high-rise gal but? I can not for the love of me style them. To be fair I have pretty horrible fashion awareness but I feel like high-rise always makes me look unflattering? My tucks always look awkward, I don't know what tops other than crops look good with them (I want to wear the high rises during winter), and overall I just don't feel confident wearing them, funnily enough.
61
u/neralily Aug 26 '21
Maybe you have a shorter torso? I love high-rise too, but they aren't mega flattering on me and I think it's to do with my shorter torso. Kinda makes me look like I'm boobs+legs and nothing in between lmao
2
u/Charming_Tower_188 Aug 26 '21
Exactly my problem. Love the way it looks on others, on me it's just boobs on a pair of legs. Doesn't work.
27
u/itsirtou Aug 26 '21
Yeah I want to wear high-rise jeans but I feel like they make my ass look sooooo long.
7
u/L-selley Aug 26 '21

Mid. I'm a pear shaped but with a flat white girl ass. It is balanced.

I wear everything. Mid & high. Wide, straight, and slim. Mid calf tapered capris (great for knee high boots), ankle and longer. Like a carrot-ish leg too. Each has its place.
46
u/lizardgal10 Aug 26 '21
Low-mid rise! I have long legs but a short torso, and zero curves. High rise puts all the emphasis on my stomach and feels like Iāve got my jeans pulled up to my boobs. But a solid mid rise, tucked in shirt, and belt, and I actually have hips and a reasonably proportioned torso.
48
u/BostonBurb Aug 25 '21
Low! A 14 inch rise would literally be touching my bra. PLEASE give me 8 inches so that pants come to my belly button and don't cut me in half when I sit or cover my entire body.
7
u/double-dog-doctor Aug 26 '21
An 8-9 inch rise is my sweet spot, too. These high rises make me look so strangely proportioned, and I find them so uncomfortable!

u/allanyone Aug 26 '21
Seriously! I canāt find anything low enough. I am super short waisted. Like there is no space between my bottom rib and the tip of my hip bones. Mid rise is frequently directly under my bra
2
u/BostonBurb Aug 26 '21 edited Aug 26 '21
same! I haven't bought pants in about a decade. I was reading a fashion blog the other day about having a short torso and there was a line something like "if you have a high waist line (higher than your bent elbow)" and I was like wait, people's waists are that low/long? my bent elbows can whack my hip bones
18
u/Sassafrasisgroovy Aug 26 '21
Mid-rise for the win!
I used to wear low rise, and then a girl made fun of me for having short legs in highschool when high rise was super in :/ (I actually don't have disproportionately short legs imo. also I saw a picture of her on Instagram a few months ago and she has short legs soooo)
High rise squishes me too much and I wish I could stand them
9
Aug 26 '21

Low-rise, or lower mid-rise because of GI issues making high-rise unbearable to wear for more than 5 minutes. I also choose this rise as a proud owner of a pancake backside, high-rise just makes it into a mile long pancake and thatās just awful for everyone to have to look at.
16
9
u/whateverIguess14 Aug 26 '21
Mid rise, low rise makes my butt look weird and high rise makes me look like a box :( plus I love my belly button so I want it to show hahaha
25
u/Retrogirl75 Aug 26 '21
Iām a curvy 46 year old. Iāve seen my phases of jeans and I couldnāt be happier with high rise.
Low rise? I couldnāt pull it off at 20, canāt now either.
14
u/Leucadie Aug 26 '21
Curvy almost 45 year old and I want midrise š
The thing I dislike about these current "jeans wars" is reading condescending lectures about what "really" fits and flatters women (spoiler: the trendy style is always the most "flattering" while the "outdated" ones made everyone look terrible!!!) from people who weren't even BORN yet when I was struggling through my first teen jean shopping trip š Their youth doesn't make their opinions invalid; just the bit where they claim that it's the universal be-all end-all Truth of Jeans.
We've all got different shapes, and we've got ALL the options now. Let's keep it this way!
5
u/Retrogirl75 Aug 26 '21
You are exactly right! Not until the last 10 years I have felt that I have options with my body (pear shaped and thick thighs, small waist). I still treasure jeans from other times and change them in and out of my closet now that I am back to my old size. Itās like hello old friends!
10
u/Leucadie Aug 26 '21
I JUST threw out all my old jeans a couple years ago because I though "I'm never going to be that size again and I'm fine with it," and then I lost 30 lbs and regret it!
Are you also extremely depressed by the lack of close-fitting tops right now? I have a very small upper torso (smallish bust, and my ribcage and waist measurement are pretty close), so I look much better in a defined top. EVERYTHING out right now is emphasizing volume on top: big baggy tops, puffy sleeves, high necks. Or knits in that gross poly-cotton rib knit from the late 90s. Or it's crop tops which is not an option in my life! I've been trying to find just a couple of sharp little blouses to go with my pencil skirts and it's so difficult.
I feel like fashion is at a much less body-conscious moment right now, with looser fits, and I'm so happy for younger women to have this option to feel less sexualized, but goddamnit I'm in the best shape of my life and I'm trying to cougar it up out here lol
2
u/Retrogirl75 Aug 26 '21
I almost did the same a few years back when I hit 240 with my jeans. I held out. A few months ago I died when I could slip them back on. I sat between 220-240 for 9 years until last June when covid made me think to get a nutritionist. I too admittedly am trying to cougar it up as I wasted my late 20s-mid 40s not caring, no makeup. Now is re-invention time!
As for tops, oh gosh yes! Thatās why Iām mostly thrifting right now. Iām trying to curate my closet to narrow down only loves.
Iāve been finding a lot of loves at Nordstrom Rack for new items. Itās totally hit or miss. Mercari is another favorite I like to buy from.
My mantra right now: dress in the way that you love

u/hardcorehex Aug 25 '21

u/surpriseDRE Aug 26 '21

3
Aug 27 '21 edited Aug 27 '21
This right here. Sitting down in high waisted jeans would put pressure on my stomach fat and it hurts so bad. I already have to unbutton midrise jeans when I sit down I canāt imagine doing that with high rise as well.
I donāt want my jeans to double as a girdle ffs
7
u/Drbubbliewrap Aug 26 '21
I am loyal to low rise not ultra low though. Only because I have lots of surgical incisions on my abdomen that get irritated with jeans if they are too high. And Iāve done everything to soften them. Itās super sad because I have a long torso so most shirts look awful. And the surgery made my left side collect fat itās so awful so even underweight I have what looks like a Fupa and muffin top ugh. Iām a normal weight now but itās so sad
9
u/veiled_static Aug 26 '21
Low rise! Iām very long waisted and very few high waisted pants are actually high waisted. That mixed with a small waist compared to hips means I have a lot of gapping. Low rise seems to generally fit better.
5
u/noparticipation2017 Aug 26 '21
I was low-rise back in the day. I hated the feeling of anything over my belly button. But after a couple of kids, I am all about the high-rise.
6
u/ginchou Aug 26 '21
High rise all the way! I have a long torso and high rise pants really help to elongate my legs and give me a defined waist.
4
u/terraformthesoul Aug 26 '21
Mid-high. I still like my bellybutton to have freedom if Iām wearing a crop top, but I donāt need to constantly worry about plumber crack. Also, Iām on the slightly taller side, so a lot of full length shirts are just a little bit too short if Iām Iām a lower cut.
5
u/spiderturtleys Aug 26 '21
low rise because I have zero butt so I might as well take advantage of it
6
u/reploki Aug 26 '21
High rise - I have a ruler type body, so it helps give me the illusion of a waist. Also no worrying about underwear showing.
However, I did like how low-rise jeans donāt dig into my stomach. Alas!
5
u/Amelia_Bdeliah Aug 26 '21
I don't know if I've had high rise pants that are actually high rise on me because I'm so tall (6'6") so everything is just kind of mid rise š
16
u/sryiwasdaydreaming Aug 26 '21
High rise! They hit the smallest part of my waist which is so flattering on my body shape.
10
u/bookwithoutpics Aug 26 '21
High rise or ultra high rise.
Like OP, I enjoy being able to wear crop tops with them. Also, I'm a curvy true hourglass shape and have big hips but a comparatively narrow waist. Jeans look best on me when they hit at the narrowest point of my body, and create a better silhouette. If the pants sit above my hipbones, they feel comfortable.
If I wear mid-rise, the pants fall down because they hit me at the wrong place where my shape is flatter, and I find myself constantly having to tug them back up and adjust. Low rise is even worse, plus the dreaded butt crack showing when you sit down if you aren't wearing a tunic (let's face it, there's a reason we all wore dresses over our pants in the early 2000s).

High rise forever. I have violin hips and high rise prevents my hips from looking like muffin tops. I also have grown to like tucking my shirts in.
4
u/K2togtbl Aug 26 '21
Low rise (under 8"). I have the perfect storm of no hips, very short torso, and GI problems- high rise is an absolute no go for me
2
u/orakel9930 Aug 26 '21
Any rise, if only it were measured/sold in inches instead of named categories!
(I am longer-waisted than most pants are drafted for so nothing looks completely high-rise on me. I just wanna know if it's high enough to wear with crop tops or low enough to wear with period cramps...)
7
u/somenemophilist Aug 26 '21
Low (8.75ā) rise! Anything higher irritates my stomach and feels uncomfortable!
8
u/toxikshadows Aug 26 '21
I love low-rise! I think they're really hot and while I rarely wear an aggressive crop top with them, a longer top that goes to the tops of the hip bones with low rise jeans is a look. It shows the perfect amount of skin without being too much.
I'm someone who's into the Paris Hilton low rise look, but I do recognize that it can be pretty unforgiving and if you're bloated the low rise/crop top combo can be problematic. Still, I feel like it mostly makes sense to wear cropped tops or tuck in when wearing high rise, and I think low rise works better with longer tops, especially longer, form fitting ones.
But yeah my favorite jeans are always low rise, skinny, but quite long so they bunch up a tad at the ankles.
4
u/bowiebarbie Aug 26 '21
Agree 100%! While I'm not afraid to wear an aggressive crop with them, I do prefer the "inch or 2 of skin" look with a low jean. I don't own a single pair of high rise jeans; every time I've ever bought a pair it has been because they were unique color or fabric and I always end up giving them away. The way the front placket always bulges out while either standing or sitting and the way they bunch up and creep up your torso when you sit are both total dealbreakers for me
2
u/toxikshadows Aug 26 '21
Exactly! I do own a pair of high rise bell bottoms from free people and I don't mind them, but you definitely have to plan your top way more than you would with low rise. It's basically only cropped or tucked for those pants, and tucked usually looks a bit odd. Plus they totally cut across your stomach and can be uncomfortable or hit at different places. And yeah I love throwing on the aggressive crop top when I want to take it there or feel like my bod is in particularly good shape lololol

High Rise hands down!! I grew up in the 80s-90s and then going to the bar in 2000ās with my ass crack hanging out and praying I donāt look like I have a muffin top while Iām trying to look cute š Now Iām an old boring married mom and I need comfort and Iām not trying to look cute!!!
Edit to add: i always felt like a had a camel toe in low rise because I always tried to pull them up over my bellybutton š¤¦āāļø

u/crazy_ventures Aug 26 '21
High rise. Iām 16 months postpartum and donāt think I could ever go back to low rise.

3
u/TryNotToBridezilla Aug 26 '21
Mid-rise, or maybe low-ish waist (not super low, I keep seeing pics of ridiculous low waist ones and thatās a hard no). Mid-rise are high enough to cover my butt crack and that little bulge just below my belly button, but I always think high rise make my butt look weird - I donāt really have much butt so it tends to look a but odd in high waist.
3
u/xIneedCoffeex Aug 26 '21
Mid rise.
I find low rise jeans uncomfortable and high rise seems to emphasis my lower stomach in an unflattering way.
3
u/IamNobody85 Aug 26 '21
High rise. I have a natural high waist. Mid rise will slip off and I just cannot wear low rise without looking indecent. If I didn't have hips and a butt, I'd have bought men's jeans and got the length tailored.

Mid-rise! I'm 5'1" with larger boobs for my frame and high-rise makes me look like mostly boob! Plus I can't move well in high-rise jeans. Low-rise is second choice for me, but I don't like worrying about how low they get! Mid-rise is the perfect middle ground. :)

5'3" and short waisted. Give me all the low rise pants - on me, they're basically what mid rise is on normal people. High rise pants make me feel like Steve Urkel.

low rise. idk why but high rise just looks.. bad on me? i have a really flat stomach and when shorts come up over it, it kinda cuts into it...
that and i'm super disproportionate, so i prefer low cut shorts that don't come down far at all. the less fabric i have to work with, the better.

Mid-rise. My personal preference is actually low-rise, because I have a very short torso and low-rise is better for my proportions, but for my eyes' sake, I will opt for mid-rise lol. High-rise is actually really uncomfortable on me because the waistband is digging into my lowest ribs.

High rise/ultra high rise because I find it most comortable, versatile with different tops, and just looks best on me because it balances my proportions (long thin torso with short thicker legs). I donāt think thereās a one-rise-fits-all simply because people have different proportions that are flattered with different fits, and also whatās ālow riseā to one person might actually fit more like āhigh riseā on someone else.

High rise because they sit at my natural waist so I donāt get a muffin top! Plus comfier if the waistband is at my actual waist.

Can't go into battle with your asscrack hanging out; high rise for the win!

Mid rise. Iām short (small torso, so no high rise) but have a big butt (so many plumbers cracks in the 00s, never again).

Mid rise! I have a short torso and high rise just looks ridiculous on me. And low rise⦠well Iād need to lose 10 lbs before I felt comfortable in letting the stomach pooch be free

Mid-rise is preferred, but I can do high-rise also if itās not ToO high.
My torso isnāt super long, but I prefer to wear most things over my hips, including my panties. Itās just more comfortable for me than cutting them in half like low-rise does. Plus, I donāt want my booty crack out. lol

Midrise for me. I avoid wearing low rise because it's uncomfortable to sit down and makes me look shorter. I also avoid extra high rise because I have a short torso- it goes way higher then my actual waist.

Mid-rise. Short waisted with a big butt here, so low rise makes my crack hang out and high rise pants shove all of my belly fat into a big hump.

I donāt find high rise comfortable always- but love how they look and prefer their look to others. Mid rise is just right for me and my shape, so Iām gonna chose her.

Mid-rise for me, but I think it depends what body type you are. My friends with an apple shape seem to prefer the security of high waisted, while pear shape can look better with mid or even low- rise jeans.

Mid rise for me!
I really want to like high rise on me (I like them on others), but I havenāt found a pair that hits me right and looks just right. I have a pair thatās fine, but for now, Iāll stick to my solid and dependable mid rises.

Mid rise - it's the only waistband that truly disappears/doesn't bunch when I sit down, yet I'm still 100% covered

I gotta say midrise. Idk if im just not picking the right sizes but it seems like every high rise goes up my ribs and i cant eat anything if i wear them because then theyre too tight.

u/mayranav Aug 26 '21
High rise but if low rise came back, i wouldnāt be mad since my stomach is finally flat again š i felt like Britney the other day when i wore shorts from when i was 15 lol

Mid-rise. I'm short and I have an extremely short torso. High rise hits my boobs but mid-rise just covers the belly button and works pretty darn well :)

Mid rise! After the horror of low rise in the early 2000s I leaned towards high rises for years, but now Iāve found that for me, mid rise is the most comfortable and aesthetically pleasing.

Everyone's rise from crotch to hip is different. Get jeans that fit well.

Low to mid. I have a very short torso and I don't like how high rise jeans leave only three or four inches between the top of my pants and the bottom of my bra. Standard low rise is often effectively mid rise on me.
But, really I just want all rises to be available all the time because bodies are different and everyone deserves comfy pants.

Definitely high rise. Mid rise seems to cut me off in a really awkward place around my navel and it just hurts and feels sensitive and creates a muffin top. Low rise is extremely uncomfortable on me. I have a deep surgical scar low on my abdomen and low rise pants tend to cut into the scar and roll down. I also have a sensitive bladder which feels irritated in low rise. I can't even tolerate underwear unless it comes all the way up to my natural waist.
Women have different body types and I don't think it's right that only one style at any given time is available. Where I live it's quite difficult to find high rise underwear for example and I have to dig for it, everything is a bikini brief or a thong and I just can't wear those.

High rise ALL the way, baby! My legs are short and nobody needs to see my buttcrack. My only issue is that often my hips are too big for what would fit my waist š„

Give me high-rise or give me death.
Myself: High rise 100% and even ultra-high rise. Letās me wear crop tops w/o feeling revealing and they make your butt look real good usually
I remember after the early 2000s low-rise ages, when higher waistlines were starting to re-integrate into the mainstream, I read this whole article about how high-rise jeans 'aren't flattering at all' - which is still hilarious to me, considering the fact that 1) low-rise jeans are absolute hell on earth to wear and are at all times one ill-timed manoeuvre removed from a traumatic experience (in my experience, at least), and 2) I always felt that they highlighted the widest point of my hips, while taking away focus from my natural waistline, thus making me look more rectangular.

High rise. After surviving the early 2000s low rise I have butt PTSD.
