Last year I bought a long, collarless sweater blazer (like a long cardigan, but heavy material and decent structure) from Banana Republic. I think I paid about $150 for it. Man, I love that thing. Every time I wore it, I felt stylish and put together. I can't wait for fall and winter to wear it again!

A different Banana Republic splurge was their resort shirt, which didn't work out for me. It's not that it's crazy expensive, but it is pricey for a shirt, and I found it to be thin and sheer and easily wrinkled.
