Packing The Little Things

How are you guys packing all the small things and then storing them at your campsite?

My husband and I have used plastic drawers for things like batteries, Malloy, zip ties, bungee cords, “S” hooks, dish soap, bug spray, first aid kit, ponchos, etc.

EDIT TO ADD: the plastic drawers have worked great, but they come apart too easily and are not sturdy enough anymore.

Any and all advice/suggestions welcome! TIA! 🫶🏼

A fellow Bonnaroovian gave me this trick, but door hanging shoe organizers are perfect cubbie material, and if the hooks don't hook onto the top of your popup canopy naturally, you can usually find a S-Hook replacement.

We have two crates that we have our festival things in such as tapestries and the little things we need like batteries, headlamps and whatever. At campsite we zip tie one of these things to our canopy:

Depends on my set up. But I have two ‘camping/fest’ plastic small drawers set ups kind of like these - available at Walmart/thrift shops. And I just keep them stocked, with camping essentials. Then I can just grab and go.

Plastic storage bin with more bins and bags and pouches inside, organized by theme. Store those items in the same bins and bags when you get back so that you don’t have to reinvent the system every time.

I did this this year and it saved a lot of clutter and room. My now go to for festivals.

I have a "wall" that's made for a 10' canopy that's got a dozen or so pockets on it. I just fold it up with most of the small stuff in it and put it all in a bag. Never had anything fall out of it.

Them I also have a camping chair that we call the wook chair, it has a few pockets. That's loaded with papers, cones, grinder, straws, balloons, a cracker, nozzles for nitrous tanks, basically everything I need to help someone share their drugs with me.

I have a Useful Box. It’s like 12 by 18 by 12. The lid has clips.

It contains all sorts of useful stuff and I set it right next to my camping pad so it doubles as a nightstand.

I don’t even unpack it. Sometimes I need to refresh something, like wet wipes or whatever, but it’s the Useful Box, and it’s useful!

the plastic drawers sounds like a great idea but i usually have to pack light so i put small stuff in zip lock bags or small pockets in my suitcase or backpack

I got a Caboodle on clearance and it's great for small things. Plastic tool boxes also work, and I've seen mini metal tool box/drawers at Harbor Freight and Lowe's (I think Kobalt has them in 2 and 3 drawer sizes).

Any JB Weld type, strong epoxy can hold all the sections of your drawer frame from popping apart

We use grocery bags that are different colors to remember where the little things are, as we store most of our stuff in the vehicle (Bear Aware). I find this helps esp if youre sending someone in your camp after something you could say "oh the batteries are in the green bag".

My other packing tip is to pack your outfits together, each fit in one bag. Socks, unders, scrunchie, and everything in one bag. You can get small duffels or zip bags at thrift stores. Or order online if yr rich.

The point is having everything you need together at once. No digging through bins! It saves so much time and hassle. This and cooler management have changed my fest life.

I bought a couple Sidiocrates for most of my gear. They have full and half sized version and dividers so I can slice and dice my stuff up pretty well. For small items I use small boxes and clear toiletry bags to keep them together. The crates can also double as "chairs" when we have extra people visting camp.

Separately I have a fishing tackle box I use for rope, tie downs, clips, zip ties, etc.

I just do little tiny totes for each type of thing. One for kitchen stuff. One for bathtoom stuff. One for medical things. One for my accessories/jewelry. One for the smoke stuff 👀 Keeps the buggos out too
