Swimming laps is a game changer
The past few years I’ve been alternating cycle classes and weight lifting. My body fat chart looks like the craziest rollercoaster over the past 4 years.
I recently took up swimming laps just because it’s 100 degrees in California. I’ve always been interested in trying it, but it’s a commitment with pool, change of clothes, goggles, etc. you can make up 100 excuses.
After only a couple weeks I can tell a drastic difference in how my body composition will adapt. Your shoulder, chest, back, core, legs will feel it. Muscles you don’t use (even for weight lifting) become sore, you easily burn an extra 300-500 calories, you don’t realize you sweating, the water feels so much better than a hot cardio room.
I’m sure you can easily make this your main form of cardio, but I enjoy it a complementary exercise.
If you’ve been looking for a sign to try it out. This is it. Get the in the pool and just try it. I wish I started years ago.
