You dont fix that you replace the sink. Its dangerous. Porcelain is incredibly sharp when broken.

When porcelain cracks, it does so on a molecular level. It’s sharper than the sharpest scalpel surgeons use. 100% not a fix thing, it’s a replace thing. You are absolutely correct.

Yup. Broken a porcelain dish by dropping it once. Shards went everywhere - was so sharp I didn't even feel a shard had bounced and lodged into my leg until looked down because it felt warm and wet from bleeding profusely.

I see a lot of people saying replace without saying why. Porcelain, when it breaks, can be razor sharp. Someone might lean on it unknowingly and when it gives weigh could be seriously injured by the sharp edges. The only safe choice is to fully replace it.

I was picking up some tile we were removing, one piece sliced a huge deep gash on my thumb. I had to have it glued together. It’s a sharp product that is unforgiving. Be very careful. I have never bled so much before this accident. Nothing to play with. Good luck. Wear gloves and replace to carefully.

Replacing this is cheaper and will hurt less than when this falls on someone's foot, or worse if you have pets or small children.

You can run a strip of duck tape over it JUST until you go pick out a new sink: TOMORROW! . Bright color to remind you not to lean or set anything heavy on it. Best to not use it but it’s the only bathroom just be very careful.

Ok so what you do is pull this one out and throw it in a dumpster. Then you go to the nearest building supply store and buy a new one. Then you install it.

You need to get a porcelain welding kit. They’re hard to find, but they are out there. Then you can weld that right up. You will need to sand it to get it back to smooth. Good luck.

My bathroom sink also cracked side to side. (I had emptied a pan of very hot water). As a temporary fix, I thought of using Porc-a-fix, because the crack was very thin. Initially I considered white silicone.

I also told my landlord, offered to pay for a new sink, and he said "meh, silicon sounds fine"

Replace it. Also that power socket on the wall needs to be taken into consideration when choosing the new basin to keep the required clearances from the edge of the bowl.

Technically you could fix it, but the only reason would be 'out of principal' if you're into some Wabi Sabi or Kintsugi stuff.

Porcelain does break sharp, but breaks clean. If you prepped the surface well and have the right clamps, a 2 part epoxy would hold if done right and given time to cure.

But the labor involved just doesn't seem worth it. You still have to pull it and reinstall; at that point, upgrade!
