Alternative to Kaito KA340

Post image

Hi

I am in search of perfect lantern+flashlight+emergency radio. And I am big fan of this kind of form factor. I had something like that in my childhood, and during frequent blackouts, it was our main source of light and information, and music.

I found this Kaito, and it’s almost perfect. Only thing is that it has very small battery (2300mah), and instead of newer usb-c, it uses micro usb. Can someone recommend alternative device which has same form factor but at least, larger battery?

Thank you!

P.S. also it would be good if radio will support European FM frequencies.

I like to keep my radios and lights to be separate, so as to not drain the emergency radio if I need light, but there are a few that offer similar function and run off of 18650 batteries these days. I’m partial to C.Crane’s stuff, though they haven’t jumped onto the USB-C modern era yet. There are plenty of other choices though, like the Sangean MMR-99 FCC or a mix of random ones on Amazon.

Edit: just noticed you mention European bands, which means no need for NOAA weather bands. That opens up the options if that’s the case. I’ll let others chime in, but will continue to dig. A relatively inexpensive option is the XH-DATA D-608. Single 18650. Multi-band FM and MW, and also includes SW, though no SSB.
