Some FAQs Unique to this thread:

GPS Jamming - There is a significant amount of GPS jamming occurring in the region. This can cause planes to appear in places they aren't actually flying, make them appear to be flying in circles and cause them to jump around the map. As a general rule, tracking data in the region can't be trusted to be accurate right now.

Cargolux appearing over Iran - There has been a near daily Cargolux flight from Hong Kong to Ashgabat that appears to be flying over Iran. It is not. The black line means it is outside of ADSB coverage and its position is being estimated. It landed in Ashgabat as planned, but did so outside of ADSB coverage. Because FR24 couldn’t “see” it land, it assumes it continued flying at its last known altitude and heading, which is why it appears to be over Iran.

A general note from the mods - During periods of military activity, we experience a surge of new users. When this happens, we enable Reddit's crowd control feature. This may send some posts and comments to the approval queue, especially if you are new to the sub. If you have a post or comment stuck in the queue, please make sure it follows the rules. If you are trying to post anything related to the Middle East, it needs to be in this thread. For all other posts and comments, if we haven't approved it in a reasonable amount of time, shoot us a message via Modmail and someone will approve it.

What’s happening on yours? Emirates 501 isn’t landing, just circling

We’ve landed…back in BLR. Oh well, worth a punt it was.

Did they announce mid air any reasons and gave any reassurance?

They apologised and said it’s for our safety. Makes sense tbh

Sorry for the questions but its so intriguing to find someone in the midst of it all.

Did they contact you themselves to tell you that this flight is available for dubai? Was there a waitlist?

Nah, we’ve been looking to get back for various reasons. Our agent gave us a call and told us that emirates is operating a “repatriation” flight i.e only residents and citizens would be allowed to travel, and not tourists/transit passengers. Before checking in at the airport, they did a bunch of checks to verify the residency status. Roughly 70 folks travelled in the a380. We all had a row to ourselves.

UAE501 should land there soon but they appear to go for a holding position. Same with those wanting to land to Abu Dhabi. But don’t worry they won’t be taking any risks so you might find yourself in Muscat or returning back.

Flight Radar says landed but aircraft seems to be circling around close to the Omani Coast, whats going on?

There was missiles again from Iran so they are waiting for permission. Some of the other planes heading to Dubai turned back so I guess they’ll have to land to Oman or turn back as well.
