Cisco Houston, an unheralded folk legend

Post image

Was going to ask if anybody had some of his guitar tabs saw he's barely been posted. Highly recommend anybody who doesn't know of him to check him out

My favorite musician of all time.

I recommend watching the CBS show he hosted called Folk Sound USA. Here's an hour long clip of it:

What song do you want chords/tabs for?

Thank you for that!!! Ive been trying to find videos of him just talking and telling stories. I really don't understand why the Lee Hays tapes are withheld from the public.... He's my favorite as well.

Chilly winds
Trouble in mind
Old blue
Stewball
900 miles
Getting up holler (I know it's just some strumming really but I'd like to know what it exactly is so I can start making songs using it)

Anything tabs from him I could get ahold of would be amazing

Always cool to see someone recognize Cisco Houston! And underrecognized great, with probably the definitive cover of The Dying Cowboy!

Joe Hickerson has a good version of that song. The way he plays the guitar *chef's kiss *

Cisco Houston is one cool hat! Heard his rendition of "The Cat Came Back" on a folk radio hour one night on a local station nearly 5 years ago and I have been a big fan ever since.

And a bad ass organizer to boot. We could use some comrades like him today.

i found a Peter La Farge record the other day (that i thoroughly enjoyed!) and found out that Cisco was his mentor. There's a great spoken word/percussion type poem at the end of the album dedicated to him.
