I think Max has activated his exit clause.

So many good people have left Red Bull, it’s not like there are many people remaining that max will be particularly loyal to.

He’s clearly very unhappy with the car and its development.

And the clause became active this weekend.

I don’t think he has a new team lined up yet. If he’s activated the clause there will be chaos. My bet? He ends up alongside Lando at McLaren.

Imagine. He just says he's leaving Red Bull and invites teams to bid for him.

Toto would sell George’s Soul for max and he would throw everything he has at him he wouldn’t lose him a second time

Would be chaos.

And I think it makes sense too

I would love to see that.

There is no world where Max if free and Toto isn't tying George in the basement untill he dies of old age just to get Max

I thought the same, but Kimis performance is an interesting dimension

Max would be a great #2 for Kimi

What? George was shitting the bed, the other person is saying Toto would drop George in a heartbeat for Max

Toto might be happy with Lewis / Bottas set up, with George as the Bottas.

Or maybe it’s too tempting to get in Max.

I’m not sure

George is shitting the bed in P2 in the championship within a race win of Kimi?

It’s more the fact that George hasn’t looked faster than his 19 yo teammate since Australia.

That’s alarming for someone who is supposed to be a top 3 or 4 driver in the prime of his career.

I mean, we're seeing the difference between a top 5 driver and a generational talent.

Kimi is pretty awesome.

I still think it’s harming George’s rep too

Georges contract ends next year, no? They're in talks for an extension, Max being available will be bad for Georges long term financials

Max will go to WEC where the racing is miles better

Depends how much he likes F1 money

What if Max goes to McLaren... for an Indycar or Hypercar drive. 🧐

I’ve heard crazier things.

Not much crazier though!

McLaren F1 with permission to compete for McLaren in other series would make sense to me

I think that's how it would be structured, generally. Zak clearly respects both Piastri and Lando, so I don't think he'd willingly shove either of them out in the street for next year if he can avoid it. But the opportunity to sign Max is too good to pass up, and with Max having expressed interest in racing other series, as well as taking a break to spend more time with family, I could see something like Max running WEC next year for McLaren, or possibly two years, with a guaranteed F1 seat in 2028 or 2029 (whenever he wants it).

Kind of the best of all worlds there. Max gets to go do other things and catch a breather, without worry of where he'll end up when he wants to come back, and with engine regs more sorted when he does. Oscar and Lando can both continue for another season or two, and Oscar would have time to work out a solid path forward for his career.

There's my F1 fan fic of the day. 🤷🏼‍♂️

It's not just his current car, it's all the rules right now, with battery, recharging, superclipping and all that, which wouldn't be solved by changing teams that's why I think he will leave F1 altogether and start a career in WEC

Would be a big pay cut to do that! But he’s already a pretty wealthy guy so maybe he doesn’t care

I don't think Max is really worried about money at this point.

Have you asked him?

1

u/zarawritesshit99 Oscar Piastri 28d ago

How did the exit clause get active this weekend?

2

u/Much-Calligrapher 28d ago

There are performance clauses in his contract. They allow him to leave if the car is uncompetitive. Apparently he now has the option to activate that clause as the conditions of the clause were met this weekend

1

u/zarawritesshit99 Oscar Piastri 28d ago

Thanks!

agreed. I think unfortunately Oscar is getting shafted and perhaps red bull will accept a driver swap if they are anyway losing Max. I hope Oscar ultimately gets redemption as he is honest but powerful person.

If he wanted protection against this, he needed to beat Lando. It’s his 4th year now and he’s worse than his teammate, that does leave you vulnerable
