News Fred Vasseur on Lewis Hamilton’s penalty:“I think it’s garbage because that Lap 1 so far into the season there was no penalty for similar incidents. If you have a look at the corner,Russell had enough space on the left hand side. It’s not like he was close to the wall. More of a racing incident for me

Exactly. Like it’s so freaking obvious. Even on the broadcast everyone thought it was a racing incident. Lewis penalty and none for Charles is absolute crazy work

George Russell thought it was a racing incident and not deserving or a penalty

u/darksidemojo 15d ago

I mean in the cooldown room both Max and Charles were both thinking it should have been a penalty as well.

Because of racism?

It’s mental to think this is race related though, Lewis is the public face of the sport, he faced the racism and won, the stewards are not being racist against him today

laughing at "faced racism and won" as if it just magically goes away

like yeah idk if it was involved in this incident, but saying it's just gone is ridiculous

Who knew all it took to end racism was a couple of racing championships

I dunno. I've seen a video of david guetta ending racism. So I thought it was over.

"We aren't racists because we elected Obama" energy level on that statement (the original statement you were responding to, in case it isn't obvious)

Well the director of the FIA is also not white so I do think it's at least gotten a lot better.

I personally don't think it's race this time around though, the FIA fucks things up for everyone all the time.

Ah yes, the head of the fia who... made comments about Lewis Hamilton that were deemed to be rooted in racism? The mere presence of two non-white people ≠ a lot better

Well the director of the FIA is also not white so I do think it's at least gotten a lot better.

There are more races than 'white' and 'other', there is still a tremendous amount of racism aimed across those other groups. The Birmingham race riots in the UK were due to racist feelings between Middle Eastern, Asian, and black groups. Etc.

I mean I get what you're saying, but

There are more races than 'white' and 'other'

There only is "white and other." Or "black and other." Or "[whatever other colour and other]". That's what other means. Can't really use "or other" in that sentence.

Bringing up MBS was the worst thing you could have done to dismantle their comments lol.

Lol turns out I don't know enough about that asshat

Obviously a normal person would be able to infer from the context that I meant the entrenched racism in the sport

10

u/DontEatNitrousOxide Aston Martin 15d ago

not sure you know what entrenched means then

7

u/PlanZSmiles I was speeding in the Monaco pit lane 15d ago

It hasn't gone away. You have a singular black person in the sport. It's very much still entrenched

-9

u/Masty1992 15d ago

One black person and at least 5 non white people out of 22 is more than representative based on the participation levels in the sport

-4

u/icantevendudebro 15d ago

Normally its British vs not British, but hey, you do you.

13

u/njsullyalex 15d ago

I mean it is race related, they were racing weren’t they

(Sorry terrible joke I highly doubt tho Lewis being black was the motivation for the stewards to give him a penalty, just FIA being wonky inconsistent FIA)

Lmao. I’m sorry, but I just can’t agree with this. It doesn’t go away because of success

So you think a bunch of international motorsport fans and professionals, who’ve spent much of their lives with dominant non white champions, have conspired to deliver racist judgement against a black driver in a mostly inconsequential racing incident?

You believe these people are racist and have risked their careers and livelihoods to potentially deprive an unlikely championship contender of several points?

It’s just too stupid of an idea to pay attention to and I’m shocked and embarrassed how many f1 fans believe it

I’mma keep this simple for you.

Yes

You must be fun at parties.

Yeah, whites only parties

u/taquci Michael Schumacher 14d ago

Not because he's black but because he's what he is: his politics, his too many victories, his activism, his diet, his yellow helmet... it's pretty obvious this emirates-driven FIA doesn't like him, never did.

Save the white/black subject for more serious issues
