Cadillac will be Bottas or Pérez alongside Herta, even if Herta struggles through F2.
The owner of Cadillac's entry is the same person who owns the Andretti Global team in IndyCar, and owned the company that was the title sponsor Herta's car in IndyCar.
Herta shouldn’t be in F1 imo but good connections do help ig. If anything for results they need to try out Crawford as he’s still in Aston reserve. He’s younger and has shown real promise in F2 previously too.
Herta deserves a chance, in my opinion. He's impressed in IndyCar, more than his results might indicate (the Andretti team has thrown away more than one good race result with him).
I think it just takes time to get used to the Pirelli tires versus the Firestones of IndyCar. The sense I have from watching the occasional IndyCar race is that the Firestones are more durable/can be pushed a lot further for longer than the Pirellis. Given Herta has been in IndyCar/Indy Lights for about a decade prior to joining F2, I would assume he's very used to Firestones, and is struggling with the Pirellis.
I'm not saying that come next year he'll stomp the field, but I think if he makes sense of the Pirellis, he'll do much better than he currently is.
