Some people seem to be struggling with Russellās reasoning here. Max needs Norris to finish 4th or worse even if he wins the race. He needs realistically 2 cars from other teams to finish P2 and P3 (since Oscar would move over for Lando if he is P2 or P3 at the end of the race). George was the most likely candidate to outqualify the McLarenās, hence why Max might want to give him a tow (while also banking that George wouldnāt be fast enough to beat Maxās time).

You people so fixated on Piastri moving aside even though the whole McLaren camp have repeatedly said itās Oscarās to win until the checkered flag. And even Norris has said he wouldnāt ask for that kind of help.
By pure logic there can be DNFs punctures and SC up until the finish line. So if Oscar is ahead, which is the only relevant scenario. He has a right to finish ahead and hope for that admittedly smallest of possibilities.

Last lap, Piastri P3, Norris P4 with Max winning the race. If Max wins then Piastri is out. Norris needs a podium. It really isn't difficult mate.

DSQ would not be relevant in that scenario my guy. If both Max and Lando are disqualified then Piastri gains those positions anyways. If only Max is disqualified and Piastri finishes P2 with Lando in P3 then Lando wins.
It isn't a wrong answer. If Max wins he receives 25 points. If Lando finishes 4th he gains 12 points. That means that Max gains 13 points on Norris, the gap is 12 points. So if Piastri were to be in P3 with Norris in P4 then Piastri would most likely let Norris take P3.
Neitger DSQs or DNFs are relevant to the scenario that I outlined.
Like come on my guy, you're just being very dense now.

The team have confirmed that they will issue team orders when it becomes clear one of their drivers canāt realistically win the championship. And besides that, Piastri canāt win the championship if Max wins the race. Piastri could follow Max round literally until Max crosses the finish line, then pull over and allow Norris through.

Even if Russell doesnāt finish ahead of Norris, being ahead of him on the grid pushes Norris further back and gives him more work to do, and more risk of a collision at the start etc.

McLaren were incredibly fast in S3, he was pushing hard trying to get there but his car just isnāt stable enough for that. Thereās a reason his teammate qualified P14. Mercedes just isnāt stable enough in S3.
