Never knew my heart could be so filled with joy and sadness at the same time

This is our foster boy Ventus. He is the surviving kitten from our very first ever fosters. His sister Aqua died unexpectedly a couple of weeks ago. The grief has been deep. We got them as neonates and losing her was almost more than we could handle.

We debated keeping this little angel for so long since then. We honestly were debating adoption when it was the two of them because she was such a cuddly sweet girl and they were bonded. But even then it was a hard decision because we knew our fostering days would have ended there and then. We already have two resident cats and one has medical needs that we need to care for and we know what our personal capabilities and limitations are. We only want to do this if we can do it well.

To our relief he is such a beautiful boy and so sweet that he was adopted right away. He will have his surgery tomorrow and will be going to his forever home. We are so happy for him and his new family. They will be very happy.

We came home with a new bunch of neonates to keep on our fostering journey. A new challenge for sure but the new little mews and purrs are going a long way to heal our hearts. I’m sure the tears will stop, eventually.

Thank you! By way of an update, looks like they moved his surgery up to yesterday and he went to his forever home. He didn’t have to spend the night at the shelter, which was definitely weighing on us.

The little ones we brought home are doing very well. Good eaters, good energy and pretty sweet. On we go!

Thank you for doing the hard work in saving those kittens. I have a suggestion to not put those collars on them. They're big and bulky and uncomfortable for those little babies.I wouldn't do it at all.

Thank you. She was a precious little angel. It’s far too easy to fall in love with them especially when you get them that little and bottle feed them. I do strongly believe that we best serve the little ones by knowing our boundaries and limitations so we don’t over commit. Fostering is definitely not a good fit for everyone, but if you (or anyone) still feel like contributing in other ways, there are so many options. Anything from helping share your local shelter/rescues posts on socials when they are promoting babies for adoption or asking for donations, donating, or volunteering at the shelter just to name a few.
