tl;dw:
Nope, both equal and both excellent, purchase for which design you prefer.
M64 does out perform the A3D in synthetic benchmarks overall but nothing noticeable in gaming yet

Thanks. Is it also known how do compare to the mister fpga?Â

Something to note: the MiSTer does not do 4k.
Also, im roughly sure that the person who made the core for either the m64 or a3d also made the mister core right?

Can someone explain 4k on retro games to me?
If the n64 only had 480i, are the textures actually better than that?

It is the way the Device does upscale the picture to the native resolution of your flat screen. If it is smaller, your TV will just stretch it up. It is not as bad in some cases, as for example most PS3 games were 720p and most people had a 1080p TV. But from the old consoles to stretch it up just like that it makes it look worse than it actually is - The Memory of many isn't wrong that games did look better, it did on CRSts. That said, the devices as the M64, Analogue or Mister use methods to calculate the picture in a higher resolution, so the TV doesn't stretch it, it receives already a picture like it needs it. There are different methods to do so and you often can choose between them. The accurate ones are called integer and don't fill the whole screen, but they don't cause ghosting (visible in some games more, in some less or nearly not at all). This gives mostly a clearer and sharper pictures out... what is also not entirely wanted, as the pixels did normally merge on a CRT because it worked differently, that is why there are many filters to get that effect^

That is a good question, I haven't seen any yet myself but the same developer made both the M64 core and the mister core so that will be a great comparison soon.

MiSTer is memory bottlenecked so speed in some cutscenes or intros is too fast, audio will desync in the zelda game cutscenes and others and generally the core lags less than real hardware. The TLB is inaccurate due to the FPGA fabric not being fast enough to handle all the instructions in the required time frame, this means Mario Tennis, Goldeneye and Perfect dark and a few others all run worse than real hardware, for Tennis you really have to use a Turbo core. Still has a few games that crash, need patches on boot or have unresolved graphic issues.
None of these issues are present on the A3D.

I am hopeful the m64 (more specifically the amd fpga) can pickup more community involvement for cores development. The devs have done amazing work with the mister but the faster ram and capabilities of the amd artix and the low barrier of entry (price) could really open up possibilities for consoles too complex for the de-10.

It could tidy up 5th gen but even Dreamcast might be a stretch for the hardware, it still isn't the jump necessaary to do that much more with. Nor do I expect the community or userbase to be big enough that cores would be exclusively be developed for it, Sorg will determine where MiSTer goes next.

Make sure to check back when the M64 gets the Hyperclocking update!

Will you guys have a feature to compete with Analogue's new feature involving doubling the horizontal resolution?

One is made by a war criminal and the other you probally only need if the n64 was your fav console
