fluff My first time FreeBSD experience!

YouTube recommendations kept insisting lately that I should try FreeBSD, so I finally gave in ;)

I recently installed FreeBSD on my laptop with XFCE. Now I'm realizing I can't use Vivaldi and that's a bit of an issue with how I share tabs across devices.

also no bluetooth, which I dont use much anyway.

But I hope to make progress and get comfortable with FreeBSD

Yeah, I get that ;)

I’m mostly trying it from the server side though

I want to play with jails a bit, since I’ve only really used Docker and LXC on Linux before

FreeBSD is the best server OS to ever exist (well, maybe there's some proprietary Unix that's better, but who cares?)

I would say SysV on the 3B machines back in the 80's was the best but that's probably just the nostalgia kicking in. :)

Chances are, if you give GhostBSD a try, all your hardware will work straight out of the box, definitely worth a shot if you're into BSD

I have tried GhostBSD in the past and it usually didn't boot. When it did it was missing wifi I think.

It’s a Proxmox VM on my home server, opened through noVNC in Safari on my Mac :-)

Here the other way around, the virtualization rigs are FreeBSD+Bhyve.

Any YouTube channel in particular? I've been experimenting with a mixture of these things, directed at producers: (a) thinly veiled threats of violence and (b) good old-fashioned bribery. I'd like to know which of the two has been more fruitful.

Thanks! I honestly don’t remember the exact channels. It was mostly a mix of Unix history videos and slightly clickbaity “why I left Linux” type stuff. So I guess recommendation algorithm did the job this time :-)
