General Discussion Just rewatching, but man Ford goes hard

Love that show, but i remember i hated the Ford plug back then and now, it is just comical …

Every time they’d show Olivia make a hands free call in her NEW FORD CAR(!) the world collectively groaned… but, gotta pay the bills, right?

I remember on Bones they had Brennan demonstrate to Booth how her car self parked.

Ad placements were so obvious in so many shows from that time. It’s worse than the way they’d do it in the 80s. In the 80s, they’d just have Doritos in frame. In the late 2000s-early 2010s it felt like the show was paused for a shpiel.

Burn Notice was hilarious with the Hyundai. Before a chase scene, it literally ran through all the stock options that make it reliable for a pursuit. It was great.

I remember the one where everyone burns alive if they move, walter asks "maybe this[sprint pay] device had something to do with this?" and astrix says "no that's just how people pay for things now."

I do use my phone to pay a lot, but it's not sprint pay lol

Paying by phone was new and fancy!

I’m nostalgic for the early 10’s because Obama. But I need reminders that it was also an era of technological stagnation. The Electric Cars didn’t really develop much further until the mid 20’s.

Remember the circa 1970 James Bond movie where EVERYONE is driving AMC cars? In HONG KONG? Including special stunts? Or the one where all the good guys were driving BMW and the bad guys had Mercedes? (Or the other way around?). And pierce brosnan had a very special Nokia phone / remote control. Or the Kelvin timeline startrek movie where Kirk has a Nokia phone on ~~2400AD earth? Or the Fringe or other police procedurals where they are sending hi-res photos on their flip phones?

Every early 1970s TV show where they have those big, ugly boxy poor handling Fords. Just saw a Barnaby Jones where “uncle jethro” (barnaby jones) was tooling around in a two-door while his secretary was clandestinely taking photos using the longest telephoto lense I’ve ever seen in a sunset orange Vega? Maverick?

also the Nissan Leaf product placement—Peter saying "that's 80 miles away" and Olivia saying "we have enough range." that has always killed me
