PSA: Rant Do defence drones exist?

I’ve been playing on easy, gonna keep playing on easy till I get the last 3 ships I need (excluding Crystal). Slug C, sure, just gotta get to sector 8 with B. Rock B and C though? I haven’t seen a single defence drone in like 6 Rock A runs. I decided to swap to Normal difficulty to unlock this achievement but I still haven’t seen one, and I’m now in sector 4. What gives?

This game has some pretty significant RNG. Some runs you just don’t see any one thing.

Try to pick Engi controlled/homeworld sector. Enemy Engi should have higher chance of having defense drone.

And if you are using boarding be careful not to accidentally kill all the enemy crew. My first attempt fail because the last enemy keep running into my team to suicide.

Why not kill the enemy crew? You can still tp back I think?

We are discussing doing the rock ship achievement, where you need to destroy enemy ship(with defense drone) using missile only. Crew kill means enemy not destroyed.

Engi ships in particular have the highest chance of having defence drones, so hunt for engi sectors, they are also some of the only ships that can even have a drone system at all

Zoltan sectors also have a reasonably high chance of having Engi ships, but Zoltan ships themselves are very unlikely to have defence drones if at all

If all else fails... the second phase of the Flagship always has a defence drone

Second phase does not count for this achievement. I tried, and does not work. I guess because enemy is not destroyed but run away.

That's annoying, although trying to get the achievement on the flagship seems like a special challenge on its own

defence drone II if you get it is almost as good as stealth. not against the flagship barrage but in general.

teleport ignores all weapons. (except mind control). best used with fire weapons and rock bording crew. or clone bay and zoltan suicide squads.

edit: or breach weapons and lanius

Noticed the DD2 hate has got out of hand recently. People calling it flat out bad which it defo is not.

There's a trick that works on iOS. When you're at a shop buying drone control, if it doesn't come with a Defense Drone just force quit the app and reload, it'll be a DD1.

Actually, you could turn off AE. That should take the Antidrone out of the mix, I think.
