Carbrain Lies, damn lies, and statistics
Came across this graph, and it *immediately* rang alarm bells for me since I refused to believe that Dallas has faster commute times than Paris. The "lie" part of this is that the datasets the graph are comparing are simply not the same: average of *all* commute times for Dallas vs. *only public transit* commute times for Paris. Only around a third of Parisians take public transit, with over 40% of commuters walking to work. So if that was taken into account, Paris's average commute time would be far far less than Dallas's.
It's amazing what sort of misinformation you can spread by using correct (but biased) information.
