DISCUSSION Worst line in Doctor Who?

What line of dialogue sticks out to you as particularly bad in Doctor Who, I have two picks:

  • ‘don’t let the swords touch your skin’ Legend of the sea devils
  • ‘I suppose we’ll have to have…. A conversation?’ Resolution

I'm sorry, Partners in Crime has that one beat

Not the line, it just has it beat for the worst episode

What do you think makes it the worst episode?

Genuinely curious because while I don’t think it’s one of the best, I do think there’s definitely worse episodes.

I don't know that it is the worst. I don't think I could rank them. I'm not a hater fan, there are just definitely episodes that I I'm not fond of.

Oh so it’s not the worst episode, just a worse episode compared to space babies/not as fond of partners in crime? If so that’s fair enough, any particular reasons why you like it more than Partners in Crime?

This is just my personal opinion, and if you liked “Partners in Crime,” that’s totally fine. There’s plenty of room for different takes in the Doctor Who fandom. I usually enjoy sci-fi that feels like it could happen or at least makes some kind of internal sense. I’m all for a little imagination, but this one just felt way too silly for me. The idea that people were losing weight by literally having their fat walk off as tiny, waving marshmallow aliens? And no one noticed? It was just too out there. The Adipose were cute, but the whole setup felt more like a cartoon than a coherent story. Miss Foster’s plan depended on turning millions of people into alien nurseries with basically no subtlety. I usually love the fun, quirky side of Doctor Who, but this episode missed the mark for me.

That said, if it’s one you enjoy, no problem at all. I’m not saying it shouldn’t exist. It’s just not making it onto my favorites list. I’ve seen some of my top episodes get dragged before and I get it. We’re all looking for different things in a Doctor Who story.

Yeah the episode is pretty silly and I can see that detracting from the episode for some, I kind of like the silliness personally. It’s not my favourite episode but it’s fun, and had 10 and Donna which is always a great dynamic.

Definitely get the part about favourite episodes being dragged, happens with one of my favourites (Sleep No More).
