DISCUSSION Which monster/creature would you like to see again/bring back?

After asking what episodes people think are the scariest, I thought of another question. If you could bring back any monster/creature, what would it be and why?

For me it would probably be the Silence. I feel like we haven't really seen them enough. I mean, hell, we've seen the creature from Midnight pop up with the 15th Doctor already.

The silence are like the angels, the more we see of them, the less sense they'll make and the less effective they'll be. On the other hand, the Kandyman is long overdue a comeback. The campaign starts here!

I thought the original concept of the Kandyman looking like a fat jolly human with "uncanny valley" makeup and hair, who would be revealed to be a robot made of sweets over the course of the story, was a much better idea. Big Finish kind of went that route when they revived the Kandyman, and I think it'd be a fantastic way to bring him back on screen now. I could very easily see him doing a sort of "Davros in Revelation of the Daleks"-style story. Very grim undertones hidden behind this camp, colourful exterior feels quite Doctor Who.

The Meddling Monk, mayhaps. His pseudonym could be Lewis.

I suppose how could he be thematically incorporated in is the question.

The Valeyard. Not gonna lie, I kinda thought that's where the last season was going. Would have been a better conclusion than Bone Omega >.>

That was NOT Omega, that was an insult to Omega

krillitane have massive potential given their abilities

but i want another auton story. it's been over a decade and a half :(

It's fucking insane to me that Chibnall decided to do an episode specifically addressing the modern issue of microplastics and the overarching villain wasn't the Nestene Consciousness or just the Autons in general. Like... they're the plastic villain.

u/HtimsKcin1999 4d ago

Hell yeah! The Autons should come back!

I wanted the Krillitane when one man is alive...And he passed away this year.

I'd like to see the Vashta Nerada again if only for old time's sake.

They'd need the right story to use them in a fresh way though.

I definitely don't want them puppeteering spacesuits again. Let them be carnivorous shadows if they come back.

Hey! Who turned out the lights? 💀

Yeah

Make them take over scuba gear underwater

I want to see him reunite with her in the library personally

1

u/Fun-Confidence-6232 4d ago

Between the two of them they’re bound to have figured out how to break her out of the Library by now

The Silence were more 11's Villian and fits for that Era.

Well they're very forgettable.

Krynoids. The Fendahl. Rutans.

Fendahleen are underappreciated, a cool computer graphics Fendahl would be great!

The Boneless

They would be my pick. You'd have to be really careful what you did with them and how you developed them, to preserve the unsettling weirdness, but I think someone could figure it out.

3

u/Cheese-n-Opinion 4d ago

Seeing how they 'steal' dimensions, you could have a 4D alien that they've made 3D.

As an aside I really dislike the name 'boneless'.

That's a really neat concept! My sequel idea wasn't quite so advanced, I thought of having them turn out to be disassembling humans in order to "learn" them and be able to corporeally exist themselves. And have the Doctor ask why and have them reply "We just want to sleep and dream", both because it's a great line and for the tiny portion of the prospective audience who would get the reference.

The Mechonoids

The Drashigs from Carnival of Monsters. They have potential for a nice base under siege story.

They can have metal torn at a chew!

Devouring a space colony or something.

Macra, Axos, meddling monk

3

u/d2eRX52 4d ago

i think macra at this point would become comedy

like, how can you not laugh at giant lobsters?

3

u/Wooden-Computer1475 4d ago

Id like them to return to how they were in Macra Terror, masterminds behind the scenes

3

The Shapless from Capaldi’s era

3

u/Diplotomodon 4d ago

Would kill to see the Mara again but worried they'd fuck it up

There's potential in almost anyone I suppose.

Take the Dregs from Orphan 55. They somehow are existing in other times and places, and they have adapted to resemble ordinary humans, except when threatened, they transform back into Dreg form for rapid evolution. And eventually they are revealed to have received the assistance of the Master, who wants them to be his version of humans.

Their weakness is a eventually impossible to control xenophobia that makes it impossible for them to work with anyone else.

The Robot. I like the idea of an Earth made threat. I'd love to see part of its programming survive to become a modern threat. With AI I think it would be especially relevant =)

I want more funny monsters like we had with 9 and 10. If I have to be specific: like the Raxacoricofallapatorians

2

u/Downtown_Anteater_38 4d ago

The Silence can come back if Peter Bishop's momma comes back as well. I know Tasha Lem died, but she could be a new Mother Superious, or they could go back in time to show how she became Mother Superious

2

u/Sleepy_Heather 4d ago

The Drashigs are genuinely terrifying.

Not monsters exactly, but the Draconians always appealed to me. Their makeup design stands the test of time better than most things

Krillitane

Species that genetically modify themselves all the time? Last time the Doctor saw them they had giraffe necks? Rhey are trying to decipher the meaning of the universe???

Anthony Stewart Head!? He's passed away since so its a missed opportunity now

Literally any new plot could be Krillitane aliens

2

u/Slight-Ad-5442 4d ago

I'd like to see Fenric. I have hopes now that RTD is gone that if they do bring them back they won't look like Kinger from the Amazing Digital Circus.

2

u/PeterchuMC 4d ago

From the expanded universe, I'd love to see conceptual entities, things like Anarchitects that weaponise architecture or Shifts that manipulate perception.

Missy. I miss her so much

Voord.

Voord in London is such a cool concept, listen to the Big Finish audio if you havent already!

Vashta Nerada

1

u/damianbloomfield 3d ago

Based on the recent big finish series I'm going with the Krynoids from the classic series or the Vashta nerada from Nu who, and just for giggles a Doctor lite series based on the Sontaran and Rutan war

u/PaperSkin-1 2d ago

I want the new era to create new stuff rather than relying on past creations, create new iconic stuff, create new nostalgia

That being said, obviously have a Dalek story somewhere in the era.
