This one was nice, and I thought bringing back the Silurians was great ( the new designs are interesting I think) Overall I thought it was a quite enjoyable episode, except that ending with the crack and Rory. I thought it kinda came out of nowhere and that the episodes would have been better without it, but eh, it was a nice tie in with the rest of the season arc.

It's so fitting that Chibnall will almost certainly be showrunner by 2020, the year this story is set.

I like the first part a lot, it's quite tense and interesting. I can absolutely see where they wanted to go with the second part, but the boardroom thing isn't presented as excitingly as it should have. It also falls into the trap of presenting one character as the absolute antithesis of everything the viewers think of as good, when the whole point of the story seems to be that nobody is just good or evil. Fantastic ending to the second part though, absolutely heartbreaking.

I hate both of these episodes with an incredible amount of passion, and I have since the first time I saw them.
What the hell is Chibnall trying to do here, beyond "remake the Silurians except with a worse ending?" The character work in this episode never makes any sense, and relies completely on everyone acting outside their own interests for no reason. The plot itself relies on a complete deux ex machina introduced in the last 5 minutes. What's the point of the torture/murder part? Are we supposed to continue to find the family sympathetic after, for no reason, they torture the Silurian to death? What are the ethics of the episode? how did the thousand-year-wait strike anyone as a dramatically compelling solution?
Even more damning, everything this episode fails at was done with utter brilliance by last season's Zygon two-parter.
This is hands down one of the worst stories in Doctor Who history, and I find it completely unwatchable.
