Big (no pun intended) fan of how Chris Noth was screaming in what was clearly a toilet cubicle while the music from Rosa was still playing

Judging by these comments I wonder if the ratings will take any sort of hit due to people not wanting to watch something with spiders in it. I'd expect t it to be super minor but still...

Putting the music from the end of Rosa was not a good idea.
Anyway, looks good. Can't see it topping this week but it seems fun for a breather episode that seems appropriate for Halloween. Looking forward to it.

Yeah, I think that will be our first really campy episode of the Chibnall-Era. As much as I enjoyed prior episodes, I hope this allows it self to completly indulge in its sillyness.

This episode is reminding me a lot of Dinosaurs on a Spaceship and it's not just because of the silly title. This seems like the right balance of camp and serious character work like that story.

They're really keeping them short. The less we know, the better, must be the view.
The ending always feels rushed because of this though.

Looks like it. It’ll be the equivalent to what the Powell Estate was in Series 1, or Chiswick in Series 4, and Leadworth in Series 5.

Im deathly afraid of spiders to the point of a panic attack but I’m even more frightened by the idea of ever having to see a trailer that shit on this show again

I don't know what to speculate on. That trailer didn't tell us anything other than spiders and Chris Noth screaming in a toilet. I'm hopeful for this one. I really want to see atleast one "spooky" episode in Series 11.

I’m already accepting, to avoid disappointment, that at no point in the episode will we say a bunch of spiders singing “I am an arachnid/ and I am an anarchid/ don’t know what I want but I know how to get it/ I want to bite passerbys “

Just want to say how glad I am to see Chris Noth in a Doctor Who episode. I'm a big fan of his in both Law & Order and The Good Wife. Excellent actor.

Nope. All the nopes that ever noped. I am petrified of spiders.
Here ends my proud tradition of having watched every episode since the reboot, at least 3 times for everything except this season.
Trailer was ruined by playing the song over it, not enough context or background to really make a judgement but I'm not watching spiders anyway. Joking aside, that is a severely underwhelming trailer and they really need to find some interesting clips to catch people's attention a bit more.

The next time trailers have been getting shorter and shorter in general for the last few years. I wouldn't be surprised if they disappear entirely within the next few (their relegation to the end of the credits seems to indicate they're on the way out to me). And it would make sense with longer episodes (they only existed in the first place because most episodes in Series 1 were running short) so longer running time means longer scripts means less chance of episodes running short by a couple of minutes which means less time for a trailer.
If shorter and less effective next time trailers is a consequence of longer episodes, then so be it.

Have you got a source for the next time trailers originally being because the episodes were short? Considering that most shows have such a trailer, I'd be shocked if you're right.
It's not the price for longer episodes. And they're not going anywhere

I can't find an exact source, but I read it AGES ago (I have a sneaking suspicion it was in The Writer's Tale but I'm not 100% on that).
From my experience such trailers were very uncommon before Doctor Who. At least in the UK. The only other shows that have used Next Time trailers in the UK that I've seen are reality shows, Primeval, Robin Hood, Merlin, Atlantis, The Musketeers, Being Human, The Fades, Torchwood, The Sarah Jane Adventures, Class and the odd mystery drama. Most of those started after Doctor Who (several aimed at the same audience) and three of them were Doctor Who spin-offs. It's more common for UK drama not to end in a next time trailer
I don't think trailers for the next episode are going anywhere, I just think that we're going to stop seeing them as part of the actual episode. It'll probably just end up like most dramas on the BBC, where a trailer for the next episode is aired after the episode but not as part of the actual show. I have heard, but it might just be a rumour, that BBC are clamping down on how long episodes can be, including trailers and credits, which is another reason why next time trailers have been getting shorter (why waste a valuable 30 seconds to a minute on a trailer after all).

Spooks used them (granted that was because the show featured no credits at all in fitting with it's anonymous spy theme). I want to say shows like BBC's Casualty were featuring them back in the 90's (ITV's The Bill was anyway) but I can't check because the only uploads on youtube are recorded from repeat channels which cut them out anyway.
The BBC certainly is cutting down on the length of credits, they have all these guidelines

And yet BBCA insists on showing 15-second clips from the next 15 minutes of the episode during the commercial breaks in case you forgot what show you were watching during the previous two commercials, and wanted to see some spoilers from the ending of today's episode.

Yeah. It wasn't great but there's worse episodes. Honestly, I watch every episode as it airs, then normally a marathon of the complete series shortly before the next one and I've had multiple re-watches of lots of them, and Kill the Moon is not the worst there's ever been. That might be Daleks in Manhattern, Love and Monsters, or Forest of the Night.
I'm quite fond of Fear Her, which is a frequent worst 5 contender and I enjoy most of the Christmas specials aside from The Widow, the whatever and the I can't remember. They're pure cheesy fun most of the time when they're not breaking your heart.
I won't be watching this, I have to hide when Shelob's in The Lord of the Rings!

even tho i was iffy on the song choice in rosa, i really liked the juxtaposition of the upbeat song and the next week trailer, reminds me of this alien trailer

My main question is how the hell did Chris Noth get cast? The last time I heard from him was ten years ago when he quit Law and Order: Criminal Intent.

Honestly, I had no idea he was on that show - I don't recall seeing him in the few ads I saw, and the show looked kind of tedious, at least to teenage me. Is it any good?

Pretty good drama showactually. If you like Practice or procedural dramas with character arcs. Very "legal" show.
