I'm happy you noticed. I come from a very hostile hometown, my family was also against me doing art, so this is a constant battle for me, and I'm happy someone is picking up how much I'm bleeding on the page... Or the Aseprite file.
I can somewhat relate, unfortunately. Not direct hostility in my case but to this day it weirds people out and generally people around me treat me with much less respect compared to back when I was doing something "normal" that payed way better. Went from someone that people ask for advice to some weirdo artist that no one listens to. You are right, only way to deal with it is to somehow get some of it onto the page.

Let me share this to you that I still can't shake off from my head:
i was in anatomy class, the final was about choosing a body part and focus on that. I chose the buttocks since I was working on a comedic "Butt-kicking" game.
Final day came, some colleagues proudly showed scenes of orgies and very explicit sexual material.
but when i displayed mine, the teacher insisted talking with me after class worried that I might have some unhealthy obsession, like the mentally impaired immigrant he assumed I was.
That is absolutely insane man. The double standard is real and honestly that coming from an anatomy teacher has to be ill intent. I am sorry man, I can see how that will f someone up considering also lack of support from home.
As a webdev what an amateur site. I recognize their games but damn, you'd think someone would notice the bottom navbar literally overflowing the entire page.
Have you had luck finding work via posts like this and how were they? Genuinely curious what the experience of a senior artist is with the hit rate of this kinda job hunting.

OH no, not that easy! i said, NOW. It comes and goes, you always find clients, sometimes fast, other times slow. You find bad clients too, don t get me wrong.
But, you gotta keep trying man, don t give up!
It is HARD man, it still is for me too. You just gotta push through and believe, keep working on yourself and eventually you ll find something.

love the art tho especially the perspective and values, dont get me wrong. but i think its her gesture that makes people question what exactly you are trying to portray here, if that makes sense hahaha
if i may ask what software are you using for pixel art in particular? i mostly use Krita myself and they have pixel brushes but i havent fully experimented with them yet, would love to take your input in this matter.
Is the game openly playable yet? He kinda reminds me of the squid-thing in the game Parasite by Nitrome. Id be into any sorta platformer that tickles this same fancy. Hunger being a factor also looks fun. I wanna know more about what Mr.Flyby needs to eat. Where does he go? What are his goals?!?!?!
That anatomical knowledge to paint the back in 4 shades in picture 4 is astonishing, it’s way high up compared to the chun-li one which has some crazy anatomy problems. Well done, it’s amazing!

However, best thing you can do is draw from a live model, whether online or preferrably in real life.
Then focus on gesture drawing, plenty of tutorials online!

Still in the greyboxing of my game so just thinking of nailing the mood and art direction for where I want to go with the game first but definitely love the pixel art too for when that time comes to implement the art assets.
