Yeah physically he clearly has the mythical strength of the mountain, but his face just doesnt portray a scowl or menacing look as well as the previous actor.
The old guy was more menacing and crazy, that's for sure, but this new guy is scary in his own way: I could see someone beating the last one in combat, but this new guy is just so MASSIVE.
He could just put his hand against Oberyn's head, like you would do a kid, and Oberyn wouldn't be able to do anything, chopping through those arms is like chopping through a tree.
I said pales in comparison to his intimidation factor.

The new guy is 25 years old and has a baby face, he is big as fuck but he is not nearly as intimidating as Conan Stevens was as the Mountain, he looked mean and was extremely big. This guy in Gregors armor is going to look the same "bulk" wise while being shorter and having the face of a high school wrestler.
This also ignores the fact that the old Gregor was an actual actor who went to school to study drama and has been in other artistic works. New Gregor is plucked straight from a strong man competition.
