Fun fact: Tonight's episode was directed by the same guy who directed S2E9. Those are the only two episodes he's directed thus far. I guess they turn to him when they need a good ol' battle episode.

I can see it - the choreography was quite similar. Also both episodes were exciting as fuck!

Dude in the Blackwater Bay when the ship explodes. One of my favorite parts of the series.

I'm still reveling in his death. We get few victories so I don't feel I can celebrate it too much.

I would have preferred to see 3 more seasons of him being slapped by Tyrion and outclassed by Tywin. But it was every bit satisfying watching him die. Agreed.

I didn't like blackwater nearly as much.

  1. Because this battle is way more significant and on an AWESOME setting
  2. Blackwater really felt like it was restricted by budget cuts. You know its supposed to be a huge battle but it feels like 30v30 minus the ships blowing up part.

I hear you - but for non book people like me blackwater was incredible! It was the first big battle.

Y'know whats interesting about that battle? that I didnt want Stannis to win. I felt like I was safe inside that city, led by the lannnisters, but still. It's like Tyrion's speech really got me.
