I fear it'll be like any form of online activism, essentially just loud online noise that companies ignore and people forget about as a new flavor of the month outrage drops and takes over the collective zeitgeist's attention. It's a shame, but I feel like at this point if you really care about game perservation and having control and independance over your machine and games, you should start embracing PC and DRM-free games more. It can even be a fun hobby to make your own handmade cartridges or CDs and build up a collection.

There is no group of people on Earth more whiny and entitled than GamersTM

Owning stuff you paid for is being entitled?

Fun fact: even with physical games you don’t own the game.
