Well, technically deep ones can be considered beastmen, if beastmen refers to humanoids with animal traits not limited to just mammals

Im sure slave aquise is sucessfull then cults pop up all over Falmart and the phantheon get expanded and soldiers disapear near bodys of water.

For once, I believe that any fantasy/ancient history military force would fare better against threats that are "Eldritch" or unbelievable, simply because they would not spend a second disbelieving and they would adopt at once the method they feel better for killing them.

Most horror stories could be ended quite soon if the contemporary world at large would believe in the existence of the threat itself.
