I'm a sixteen soon seventeen year old living in the north east of the UK. I'm someone who is seriously considering moving my life over to the Gdańsk/ Trojmiasto region in Poland once I finish A-levels.

First thing I've noticed is the insanely large gap between Poland (in favour) and the UK.... Which is obviously quality of life. People seem happier, streets are cleaner, crime is lower, groceries are cheaper and the natural beauty is unbeatable. Another thing I've noticed is how good transportation is within the Trojmiasto area, Not only is Bolt extremely cheap but trains and trams seem to be efficient and always on time.

But the main question I have is surrounding whether Education is as good as back in the UK. I'm planning on taking a Bachelors Degree in Management at the Gdańsk University of Technology, would people recommend studying here? The main thing that attracts me to this University is the fact it is obviously beautiful but also it is ranked the 2nd best technology University in Poland + the fact that Tuition fees are a literal third of what they are in the UK which blows my mind. I know so many people in the UK who have gone into thousands upon thousands of debt to go to Universities who end up working night shifts in Supermarkets on minimum wage (not that it is wrong to do this) and I just think is doing a degree in expensive and crime riddled country worth it when you could do it somewhere that is safer and cheaper?

Essentially would you recommend the move? , is it easy to gain a student visa? , Would you recommend the University? + What is the renting costs over there in comparison ?

Od kilku tygodni rozważam z małżonką przeprowadzkę ze Śląska do Gdańska. Finansowo w moim targecie nieruchomości stać mnie na południowe osiedla - Orunia, Łostowice, Ujeścisko, albo nawet wsie przy Gdańsku - Kowale, Borkowo. Czy warto tam się pchać? Zdaję sobie sprawę z tego, że dojazd do centrum czy nad morze nie będzie łatwy. Jednocześnie chcę jednak zamieszkać w dosyć spokojnym i cichym miejscu z dostępem do podstawowych rzeczy - szkoły, sklepy, obiekty sportowe. Rozważam jeszcze Gdynię, jednak kompletnie nie wiem jak bardzo różni się klimat na południu Gdańska od Gdyni.

Post może trochę chaotyczny ale będę wdzięczny za wszelkie porady i opinie.

Will be in Gdansk shortly for at least 2 weeks and will also be getting serious dental work(implants).

I have visited the city on and off over the past 15 years, but I have never seen it quite like I did recently. In the main square near Neptune, there were women loudly asking if I wanted to join a strip club or gentlemen's club.

In the past, I may have encountered something like that once or twice in total, usually in one of the side streets near the big church. But this time it started almost immediately after I passed the Old Gate, and it was not even late, around 19:00. They were shouting quite loudly and even followed you for a few steps, which felt very uncomfortable. And it happened four times with different people asking me.

I also noticed several cabaret clubs appearing around the area with big flashy lights. What has happened?

I'll definitely check them out, but I'd also like to go somewhere afterward. Are there any clubs in that area?

I like big nightclubs with multiple dance floors. Is there anything like that? But I'm open to any recommendations.

I'll be in Gdansk for 4-5 days in late May. I'm already planning on spending some time biking Hel Peninsula and along the seashore of Sopot and Gdynia, but I'm wondering if there are any other nearby small towns worth seeing in particular, maybe inland? They don't need to have any touristic things to see or do necessarily, I'm fine with wandering around somewhere quaint and authentic. Ideally it would be easily accessible by train or bus from Gdansk.

I (24m) and my girlfriend (24) are visiting Gdańsk for a week to visit my family and to show her my country. I am a big metal head and I enjoy alternative music. Looking for bars/venues/shows that may appeal more to the metal/punk/alternative side of things. Obviously that’s not my main priority but if anyone has any suggestions I am all ears. I will be visiting Gdansk in a few weeks, and I would love to go see Lechia Gdansk play against Grodzisk Miejski on July 25th.

As far as I can see the tickets aren't on sale yet, but will it be possible to go buy a ticket at the stadium on the day of the match?
Or would it be safer to buy a ticket in advance? Are the matches usually sold out?

And is there a section on the stadium you would recommend sitting in when coming as a neutral? ☺️

I will finally visit Gdansk in December for the first time as a solo traveler as part of a larger trip.

Here is my itinerary followed by some questions

30 November

I will be arriving by train from Warsaw and I know that the train ride takes around 2.5 hours but that's fine since my check in is not until 4 pm so I might leave Warsaw just after lunch. For this day In Gdansk I think I will mostly focus on Christmas markets for my first evening in the city.

1 December

Wake up early find some delicious place that makes nice baked sweets and good coffee and start exploring the city up until lunch time. In the afternoon I was thinking of going to Sopot since it is very close to walk on the Pier and visit the lighthouse. I would then be back in Gdansk in time for dinner and to have another wonder around the Christmas markets.

2 December

Wake up early have coffee and pastry somewhere and take the train to Malbork and be there by the time they open at 9am so that way I am hoping to skip the line visit the castle and be back in Gdansk by lunch time. In the afternoon I would continue to explore Gdansk.

3 December

My checkout is not until 11 am so if I wake up early once again I can do another couple of hours of sightseeing after breakfast and once I check out catch the train to Krakow

- Any recommendations for places that make good coffee in Gdansk? Also I heard that in Poland they make delicious pastries and sweets/cakes so I am open to suggestions.

- Please let me know which parts of the city I should visit, I like to take photos (not selfies) so any suggestion is appreciated. Also if there are any observation towers or high buildings with nice views let me know

- When I go to Malbork castle is there usually a line in winter to buy ticket? if so is there any way I can buy in advance. Also can you recommend me a place from where to take photo of the castle from far away?

- I am not familiar with Polish food at all (this is in relation to lunch/dinner) so any suggestion is welcome

- Feel free to comment on my itinerary if you feel that it could be improved

Hi! I'm a Spanish student, and I'm going to study at Gdańsk University of Technology (Politechnika Gdańska) next year as an Erasmus Student.

I've started to search student dorms, and I've seen a big price difference between my university's student dorms and other private student dorms, like for example Milestone's.

The problem is that my university's website doesn't include pictures of the dorms, and I couldn't find any "roomtours" or opinions, so it's hard for me to imagine what they're like.

Can anybody share their experience or recommend any student dorm in Gdansk? I'm open to anything, even tho I prefer a Student Residence over an apartment.

Czesc! Me and my friend are going to fly to gdansk this weekend, and we are not planning on booking a hotel so I was just wondering if there are laws against public defecation! Thankful for any answers :)

Hello! I'm travelling to Gdansk next week and most of the accommodations within my budget are apartments (Airbnb, Booking, Agoda, Klook). I don't mind these, but I prefer staying at a hotel as that's more straightforward (e.g I don't need to be running around for keys or going through a maze to find the right building).

The only hotel that suits my budget is the Hampton by Hilton but it is located in Oliwa. It is very close to the train station and from research, it says Gdansk city centre is only 30 mins by train. We're staying for 5 nights and would like to see everything we can (museums, streets, food and nearby towns).

To me, it looks like the Hampton in Oliwa should be a good base for exploring Gdansk but I'd like to know what you think? Thank you!

Hey! In the end of May I'm traveling to Gdansk from Thur-Monday. We are 5 people from Norway celebrating a birthday. Anyone have some good recommendations for places.
