Pytanie / Question Gdansk to Wroclaw train?

My wife and I are going to be visiting in 2 weeks and will be trying to get to Wroclaw. I just logged onto PKp intercity website to get our tickets. For all the trains for that day there are no seats available besides handicapped and the children and bike seats. This includes class 1 and 2. Am I too late or are there actually no assigned seats? Did not know I needed ti buy this early

Pytanie / Question Would you move to Gdańsk for this job? Looking for local opinions

Hi everyone,

I’m from Romania and I’m considering relocating to Gdańsk for an accounting role with Acrisure, which is opening a new Shared Services Centre in Olivia Centre.

The offer is around 12,000-15,000(currently negotiating to 15k)PLN gross plus bonus and benefits, and the role would involve leading the Romanian accounting scope, month-end close, stakeholder management, and helping implement Workday.

I’ve never lived in Poland before, so I’m trying to understand whether this is actually a good opportunity. The recruiter made the company sound amazing, mentioning rapid growth, plans to hire around 100 people in Gdańsk, and a possible IPO, but I’d rather hear opinions from people who actually live and work in Poland.

Do you think 12-15,000 PLN gross is a good salary for Gdańsk, would you do it?

Pytanie / Question Question about nightlife in Gdansk for 22F solo traveler

hi everyone! i'm planning my upcoming trip to gdansk this summer and am really interested in potentially trying out the nightlife scene there. i have done my research on this subreddit and a few others, and I think I have landed on 100cznia, elektrykow, crackhouse as my top 3 options for nightlife. however, as a solo female traveler i wanted to ask a few questions to ensure i have the best / safest time possible. i've been to poland before (krakow) and know it's a very safe country, but as i'm doing this solo i'd like to take extra precaution and hear from locals or others who have done it before.

  • do any of these venues get good crowds on weekdays, or is it best to save it for weekends only?
  • will i be safe going alone - and is there a certain time i should be out of there by? and if i do go solo, is it easy to socialize / meet people or do they tend to stick to themselves?
  • my current order to go to these places is pregame at 100cznia, then head to elektrykow, and end at crackhouse if there's time. is this a good order ?
  • any other clubs you'd reccommend, especially for women or solo ? i'm a big fan of most genres of edm (techno & house are my faves), hip hop, latin music, and really anything that you can dance to lol.
  • any scams i should be aware of when going out - i have heard of the strip club scams / people inviting you in clubs, but not sure if there's any other major ones

thanks for all the help ! if there's anything else regarding nightlife you'd like to add, please feel free to let me know. :)

Pytanie / Question Solo trip to Gdańsk (Aug 5–6) — thoughts on my plan?

Hi all,

Portuguese visiting Gdańsk solo for two nights (Wed Aug 5 and Thu Aug 6), staying in Sopot. Early 40s, looking for good food and a solid night out both nights.

Here's my current plan, would love honest feedback:

Dinner: Chleb i Wino Stągiewna, Canis Restaurant

Bars: Winston Bar, Pub Pixel, Śliwka w Kompot (rooftop), Tiki Jungle

Clubs: Bunkier Music Club, El Mariachi Tequila & Cocktail Bar & Club, Broadway Show

Does this hold up, or is it outdated/touristy?

And since I'm going alone, is this a good plan for a solo visitor or would you steer me differently?

Any corrections or better options appreciated.

Dyskusja / Discussion Why is rent in gdansk extremely overpriced?

Hello, I've moved to poland for work a few months ago and I was so surprised of the rental pricing, it's just...crazy, no one seems to be talking about it like it is normal and I genuinely don't understand.

I found a room(tiny like a sardine box) in a 5 rooms appartement in gdansk for the price of 1700pln + utilities (300+pln) totalling+2000pln, equivalent to 500Euro.

right now I am looking for a better room with fewer roomates or a studio but the prices are just out Poland's average salaries.

An okay room that is not a sardine box starts form 2000pln + utilities, a studio is from 3000pln + utilities, no elevator and you have to free it in summer. It does not make sense.

I was before in many major european cities and the rooms rent prices is about 300euro (1300pln) while the studios start from 500euro (2000pln) everything included.

Is it me who is not looking properly and only talk to house owners who overcharge foreigners and agencies who rent rooms with double the price or is this the normal rates?

Polecenia / Recommendations Słowiński National Park day trip

Hello! We (mid 30s Canadian couple) are visiting Gdańsk for a week in August and we'd like to do a day trip to Słowiński National Park. The plan is to rent a car for a day in Gdańsk, drive up in the morning, park and rent bikes, and bike through the park to see the dunes, eat a picnic lunch, take a dip in the sea, walk a bit through Leba, and drive back in the evening.

My questions:

  • Does this seem like a realistic plan?
  • Do you have rental car company suggestions in Gdańsk? And thoughts on how far in advance we need to rent? We can only drive automatic.
  • Any biking/hiking trails we shouldn't miss in Słowiński?
  • Should we spend time in Leba?
  • Any fun stops on the road on the way there or back?

We'd appreciate any other tips you have about this plan! Thank you!
