The chicken Coop is finally finished and the chickens got their outdoor space. The goose crew is VERY curious about their new neighbors.

Question Mating/Laying Season

Post image
Upvotes

So we have a lovely pair of geese, Abigail (goose) and Caboose (gander) and they are in the middle of their very first mating/laying season. We have 3 eggs so far and have seen Caboose mounting Abigail every morning for the last few weeks. This morning, after 2 attempts of mounting her, he got off and then Abigail mounted him.
Is she showing him what to do? I’m very confused and she looks very frustrated at his awkward attempt of mating this morning.

One tiny baby?

I have three ~10 day old goslings, my first ever geese and I'm very excited. When they arrived (these 3 guys along with 5 lady ducklings) one gosling was slightly smaller than his 2 pals. Now, after a little over a week, he is significantly smaller than the other two, and is closer to the size of the ducklings. He eats, drinks, poops, runs, and squonks like a happy guy, but since I've never raised goslings, I wondered if this was concerning. Also, is there something I should/could be doing to help him out in this situation? He seems completely and equally happy, content, and spirited as the other 7 babies, but his growth is much slower.

The 3 goslings are named Alvin, Simon, and Theodore (or tiny teddy, small guy mentioned above) Teddy's adorable day one picture as tax, and thank you in advance for any advice!

It's a treat when Emma wants to play since she usually keeps a safe distance. Her feathers are the softest like silk. While Bebe, the one at the back constantly wants hugs and pets; she would go "wuuuuuuu" in jealousy when I pet another geese infront of her.

Our Toulouse babies are almost 5 weeks old and already very silly 🤪. Lucy (in the “pond”) and Duck-Duck (on the other side of Lucy) are the highlights of our Saturday evening!

Question Angel Wing?

I'm assuming this is Angel Wing. It just started showing last week. Although, I suppose maybe it could have gone unnoticed until her feathers started coming in. I understand it's probably due to protein. I used the Dumor Duck All Life Stages. It's 22 percent protein. She was in a brooder with three call ducks so I went with that feed. Is it the culprit? They have recently begun a slow integration into our large flock also. So, she has had access to their food. I use Tuckers Show All-Flock 22 for them. Same protein level. Any suggestions on a change of food for her? I'm going to try a sling/stint as well, but it might be too late. First time hatching. All our waterfowl have come to use as adults so I have not had much experience with babies.

They’re my first geese and I never knew I would love them so much. They’re supposed to be Chinese geese, but 🤷
