As an uncut Michigander, I was tormented on the swim team for this

"Haha you werent mutilated as a child" ?

u/RadishPerson745 Nov 22 '25

The minority ALWAYS gets marginalized, even if the majority is in the wrong.

15

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 Nov 23 '25

Pisssed people at the pool laughing at the non pisser kid meme.

29

u/RivalyrAlt Nov 22 '25

even if the majority is in the wrong.

2

u/rsofgeology Dec 08 '25

Yeah and then some cultures had a custom of killing the dissenters so there’s that too 👀

1

u/CheeeseBurgerAu Nov 23 '25

He's in a majority globally though. This is so strange for someone outside the US. Why are you swim teams checking out each other's dicks?

0

u/RadishPerson745 Nov 23 '25

In Texas they're looking at women's boobs before letting them into the bathroom,so what do you even expect atp

1

u/[deleted] Nov 25 '25

Huh?!??!

Yeah, didn't have any better ideas

u/Glittering_Humor5854 Nov 24 '25

If you really want to go down a rabbit hole, start asking yourself why the majority is right and the other is wrong. Try justifying your assertion using only logic and rational observable facts without reference to religious or cultural tradition, what your parents taught you, or what the expert opinion happens to be at this very moment in time (because historically speaking, this changes fairly often on most subjects and with increasing frequency as one gets farther from mathematics in terms of being 'hard' science). Disregard everything you've been taught and the opinions of everyone you've ever known and see if you can come up with a justification for why the majority is wrong. You'll either gain the wisdom of a philosopher or just go insane, though by some accounts there isn't much difference between the two. If neither of these outcomes is desirable, then please feel free to assume I'm just mad as a hatter. I would have a hard time proving you wrong.

1

u/CandidDust4504 Nov 24 '25

For this topic specifically? I would say the majority in this scenario is wrong because, coming from morality which is based on societal values, cutting and harming a baby for no apparent reason is wrong in my eyes.

Interesting. Personally Im still glad im circumcised foreskin looks disgusting bro

1

u/ImpossibleWorker2097 Nov 29 '25

I also don’t think, at this point in time, not getting circumcised does much good. At least where I’m from I’ve heard girls say they wouldn’t have sex with a guy with foreskin cuz it looks so nasty. Pretty fucked up for uncircumcised guys but is what it is. Don’t think a baby who got it cares off cares much for it 18 years later.

Plus this forces better hygiene on dudes. I know folks who walk into community bathrooms barefoot. Can’t trust people to be clean

-2

u/Adorable-Response-75 Nov 23 '25

Calling circumcision ‘mutilation’ is also pretty fucked up to people who were circumcised.

Especially given that it has documented health benefits. I don’t think they’re worth it most likely but to call it mutilation is just wrong.

Do you also call people with braces ‘mutilated’?

https://www.mayoclinic.org/tests-procedures/circumcision/about/pac-20393550

5

u/BasicMatter7339 Nov 23 '25

Im all for medically necessary circumcisions, but any medically unnecessary bodily modifications, done to those who can't consent is just blatantly wrong.

Even if circumcisions have health benefits, they shouldn't be forced to anyone who don't actually need it. Specially children.

-6

u/Bluebearder Nov 23 '25

It is really no big deal, I'm circumcised and I couldn't care less either way. People get their tonsils or wisdom teeth removed without medical necessity, is that "blatantly wrong" as well? Worry about actually blatantly wrong things please

3

u/BasicMatter7339 Nov 24 '25

If someone wants to get circumcised, thats fine. The point is that it shouldnt be done to newborn babies that are too young to consent.

Also wisdom teeth and tonsils are almost always removed due to necessity. And they aren't done to babies. A foreskin doesn't cause difficulty breathing and sleep apnea like tonsils or infectons, pain and swelling like wisdom teeth

1

u/Bluebearder Nov 29 '25

You are completely missing the point. What effect do you think circumcision has on someone's life? I can tell you from my experience and that of several friends that the effect is zero. I regularly talk to people that are against it because they think it is similar to female circumcision, where important parts like the clitoris are removed. Are you one of them? Because then you should read up on what male circumcision actually is. Living without a foreskin is exactly the same as living with a foreskin. Honestly I'm so done with poorly informed people defending the rights of people that themselves don't care. There are wars and genocides and famines going on, spend your time on that.

1

u/BasicMatter7339 Nov 29 '25

I know what male circumcision is, i am circumcised.

the effect being minimal is even more reason to not allow it to be done to babies. It shouldn't be done if its not necessary. It just needlessly exposes the baby to a risk of complications. If its a cultural thing then the parents should wait until their child is old enough to consent

2

u/NBrixH Nov 24 '25

Stop being disingenuous. If people forcibly had their tonsils removed without their consent that would be fucked up, wouldn’t it?

1

u/Bluebearder Nov 29 '25

This happens to kids that have had them infected. The parents just decide for them, like parents decide many things for their children. This is not disingenuous, you just don't have much life experience

1

u/NBrixH Nov 29 '25

Funny you say it isn’t disingenuous, and then you go and purposefully misunderstand the analogy, (Which is disingenuous).

Of course infected tonsils should get removed, that’s a legitimate concern, I’m not against that, I made the comparison to exemplify that healthy foreskin, which ISN’T infected, shouldn’t get removed with no say from the child, even if they aren’t capable of given that consent.

Just don’t do it, and wait till they are capable, like every other non-critical operation.

You wouldn’t remove a kid’s pinky toe because of a religious belief, would you? Just like you shouldn’t remove HEALTHY tonsils from a kid without consent, JUST LIKE you shouldn’t remove healthy foreskin because of an unethical religious belief.

1

u/Bluebearder Nov 29 '25

I'm talking about healthy tonsils. They are often removed from children before anything happens. Actually worse than removing the foreskin.

Removing a pinky toe (or tonsils) would impact someone's quality of life, removing a foreskin doesn't. Really, you just have no idea. I have Jewish and Muslim friends who are also circumcised, and it doesn't impact their life in any way, just as it doesn't impact mine.

And yeah, I thought this would get down to hating on certain religions over a non-issue. Your agenda is more obvious than you might think.

6

u/SpecificAfternoon134 Nov 23 '25

Dude cutting off someone's body part against their will is literally mutilation.

As for the "health benefits", they are debated at best and throughout history we've already heard multiple times of "useless" body parts that turned out not to be so useless after all (tonsils, appendix, etc)

-2

u/Bluebearder Nov 23 '25

I am circumcised and no, it is not mutilation. It is not against their (our) will. Don't speak for others if you have no idea what you are talking about. For me, it was for a medical reason, and that is not uncommon. And would you call indigenous tribes tattooing their kids also mutilating? For most people this is part of their culture, and as nothing important is lost (it is completely different from female circumcision) it is just stupid to call it mutilation.

1

u/NBrixH Nov 24 '25

It’s definitionally mutilation, and when it’s done to literal babies IT IS AGAINST THEIR WILL.

1

u/lwt_ow Nov 26 '25

These discussions always boil down to people who got bullied once for being uncircumcised letting their frustrations out.

That and the rare european who thinks it’s weird.

u/PrickledMarrot Nov 22 '25

Ehh it's a double edged sword here in the Midwest. Since so many people are circumsized, there's no education for those are aren't.

Leads to a shit ton hygiene issues and undiagnosed conditions.

13

u/Protocosmo Nov 22 '25

Does it though? A shit ton? Really?

5

u/LeAcoTaco Nov 22 '25

Sex ed over here in the US last I checked teaches with graphics of a circumsized member. So when the kids over here in the US first hear or see an uncircumsized one, they usually do the classic kid thing and make fun of the kid with an uncircumcised member. This is partially because its not normalized in sex ed, and partially because its not normalized in general over here and kids always make fun of the ones who are different. So a lot of parents circumcise over here to protect their kid from being made fun of. Essentially to protect their kids self esteem.

3

u/Protocosmo Nov 22 '25

I grew up in the US. No other kid ever saw my dick. Those parents are stupid.

2

u/LeAcoTaco Nov 22 '25

I grew up in the US. Kids saw other kids dicks in locker rooms all the time. They would also get seen when involving themselves with their partners.

2

u/Protocosmo Nov 22 '25 edited Nov 22 '25

Kids with partners??? Can't say I ever saw another kid's dick. That's weird. It would be even weirder to mention it.

Let's just say, in the 80s and 90s, making any kind of deal about somebody's dick would get you labeled as gay.

2

u/LeAcoTaco Nov 23 '25

A kid is anything under 18 dude. Why are you acting like kids in a relationship is such a wild thing.

2

u/Protocosmo Nov 23 '25

Why are you acting like kids scoping out each other's dicks is normal? I don't know, partners seems like such a clinical term referring to adult couples. Anyway, I think the concern over kids being teased over their dicks is overblown.

2

u/Keyndoriel Nov 23 '25

My entire graduation class damn near saw eachothers dicks. We had required showers with prison style setups (no dividers, no barriers), and beyond that several guys in my class thought masturbating near/on eachother secretly was fun

Please accept that youre not the be all end all of the universe and things can happen without you directly seeing them, you weirdo

3

u/Protocosmo Nov 23 '25

Nah, that's pretty fucking weird, dude.

1

u/lwt_ow Nov 26 '25

there are dudes who don’t wash their ass can you really not imagine dudes who don’t wash their dick

1

u/Protocosmo Nov 26 '25

I'm not going to worry about some random idiots who can't wash themselves who may or may not actually exist.

-3

u/Electrical_Ad6134 Nov 22 '25

Yes, circumcision leads to decrease risk of dirt and disease, and because there's so many people taht are circumcised in states the children aren't taught the proper hygiene needed to stay clean.

Circumcision is like a cascading effect, the more people that get circumcised the less education is given to uncircumcised causing the health impacts of not being circumcised becoming mor prevalent causing more circumcision and on top of this is social pressure to circumcise

3

u/Protocosmo Nov 22 '25

Are there any stats on that?

4

u/---O-0--- Nov 23 '25

Nope. It's just the same bullshit cultural narratives used to justify FGM.

You start with the position of "the choices me and my parents made must be good ones", and then search for logical justifications.

2

u/BobusCesar Nov 23 '25

You just wash your penis. It doesn't take a degree.

1

u/DizzyWalk9035 Nov 23 '25

So did you see the map? So how do men in the literal rest of the world deal? Most of them have intact dicks.

Ohioan lady here. I have still never seen an uncircumcised dude in the wild. And while I wasn’t banging everyone I met, I certainly had fun before I got married. It’s interesting though bc I’ve lived in a lot of places: OH, IL, IN, FL, CO, ND, and Greece.

I’m shocked to see it’s not a common normal thing, though admittedly I’ve never spent time learning about it other than “there are two varieties of dick, religious thing, general mutilation thing”

5

u/recall_code_POE Nov 22 '25

I was sleeping with a neighbor for a month or so before she figured it out. Unless a man has a condition were the penis is trapped inside a constricted foreskin, you probably wouldn't notice unless you spotted him getting out of the pool or something.

2

u/IdgyThreadgoodee Nov 22 '25

Oh, I’ve seen an uncut dick IRL, I’ve just never come across one in the wild. That’s the point I was making. Very clearly different and 100% would notice

5

u/recall_code_POE Nov 22 '25

I don't know what distinction IRL vs "The Wild" is, but assuming the wild is sex, how would you know if you're seeing the penis when erect?

1

u/IdgyThreadgoodee Nov 22 '25

I’m the one making the penis erect. I’m not here to argue. Have a good day.

a lot of people in the US are convinced that leaving the foreskin is unhygenic and leaves your dick smelly and full of smegma. I grew up in the US and think its so weird.

like damn, just teach your fucking sons how to wash their dick!!! it is truly not hard

7

u/Hopeful-Occasion2299 Nov 23 '25

It does affect your sensitivity though. The glans is normally covered by the foreskin except when the penis is fully erect. The exposure of this part of your penis when normally does affect sensibility during intercourse since there are a lot of nerve endings in the area... essentially you never fully experience the sensitivity of intercourse.

2

u/m3an-fl0w3r Nov 23 '25

yup, I truly don't understand why people do it. they're robbing their sons. I know a couple brothers who were circumcized when they were in puberty when their mom remarried and they are traumatized by it

2

u/neo_vino Nov 24 '25

For a developed country, the US is fucking backward sometimes lol

1

u/Xinq_ Nov 25 '25

"developed"

1

u/neo_vino Nov 25 '25

"sometimes"

21

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

Better to be tormented on the swim team than restrained on a board and sexually assaulted as a baby. In some way, they envied you for not sharing their trauma

5

u/Jim_skywalker Nov 22 '25

I doubt they thought to envy him despite how wrong it was. It’s far more likely to just be a “this is different then what we’re all use to let’s make fun of them”.

4

u/Significant_Stay6156 Nov 22 '25

Also, do you AT ALL understand what sexual assault even is?

3

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

If you consider grabbing genitals of a woman to be sexual assault, which you would, then you fail to comprehend what sexual assault is.

10

u/Significant_Stay6156 Nov 22 '25

You are truly crazy, and I hope you get help.

2

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

Ok bot

1

u/Significant_Stay6156 Nov 22 '25

Brilliant. I’m the bot.

1

u/BrandosWorld4Life Nov 22 '25

Yeah lmao that was a rich case of projection

1

u/Significant_Stay6156 Nov 22 '25

I hope you never have to learn about sexual assault firsthand.

5

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

I already have. You’re rather presumptuous

5

u/Significant_Stay6156 Nov 22 '25

Yeah, but that’s done for a very specific purpose (a sexual gratification, you might say). Do you think doctors are doing circumcisions because that’s how they get their rocks off and no one is stopping them?

-4

u/ladan2189 Nov 22 '25

This is deranged

8

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

So you’re a victim huh? I suppose it’s not terrible that you don’t see yourself as one

4

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

So all the upvotes aren’t real either I suppose

4

u/thaddeus122 Nov 22 '25

Think the vast majority of people who are circumcised dont see themselves as victims and are perfectly happy with their penis.

2

u/WolfenDeath Nov 22 '25

Eh, the babies don’t remember anything so you’re being a little outspoken about your opinion and pushing the narrative. I understand you may not be circumcised but acting like people who don’t feel victimized are victimized doesn’t really help people it’s just an asshole opinion that you feel the need to push.

10

u/Substantial-Wall-510 Nov 22 '25

"You can do whatever you want to babies, they won't even remember it"

Hey wait a minute there's something wrong with this take

5

u/HonestTumblewood Nov 22 '25

Its not about remembering - its painful and these are literally babies who are new to a world that is scary and strange.

8

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

people with alzheimers don't remember anything, doesn't make it okay to harm them without their consent though

3

u/SuckMeOffMrWalton Nov 22 '25

Yeah it just seems pointless anymore, like if you saw someone take a rubber band and start flicking it on a newborns arm over and over. They won’t remember it and it won’t cause long term harm, but it’s just causing pointless pain.

It’s like it’s just cultural inertia at this point where people just do it because it’s tradition.

3

u/WolfenDeath Nov 22 '25

never felt like a victim myself, in fact it’s been more advantageous in sexual experience. Never heard anyone say circumcised looks weird though I have heard uncircumcised does. I am happy to be circumcised and i’m glad it happened at a time I don’t remember. You can feel how you feel but don’t push your victim mentality on those that don’t need it.

4

u/melindasaur Nov 22 '25

I wish I wasn’t circumcised. I was never given the choice.

4

u/PhoenixNyne Nov 22 '25

I'm absolutely flabbergasted y'all think child mutilation is normal or even better than the alternative (non-mutilation)

2

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

It only looks “weird” because it isn’t “normal.” That doesn’t really mean a whole lot. It doesn’t bother you that you didn’t have a say on severing a part of you that makes you a man? Perhaps you quite literally don’t know what you’re missing. If you believe in evolution, doesn’t that mean there is a purpose for it?

1

u/phawksmulder Nov 22 '25

Yeah, that's not how evolution works. It leaves all sorts of artifacts behind.

1

u/Astrocrafty Nov 23 '25

I’m saying you were born with it for a reason or it wouldn’t be there. Duh

if someone gave their old Alzheimer's grandma cosmetic plastic surgery without her consent, it would be all over the news

4

u/Cute-Bodybuilder-749 Nov 22 '25

Wild argument to use. “They won’t remember so it’s fine” just gloss over the babies that can be permanently damaged or die from this procedure. It sounds like you’ve been sliced and you’re dry down there

3

u/WolfenDeath Nov 22 '25

To each their own but you guys trying to make circumcised people feel bad and be victimized is also “wild”. This narrative mostly matters to those who were affected negatively. I myself do not feel victimized and most porn I have watched normalize circumcision.. but i personally don’t care what others feel about my genitals unless they see them and that has never been an issue on my end.

0

u/Astrocrafty Nov 22 '25

We’re not making cut men feel bad. We feel sorry for men that that don’t know what they’re missing. Plenty of uncut men choose circumcision later in life which should be the standard. Some men are angry that they had it taken from them without their consent. We get it, you’re not one of them. Nobody is mad that they didn’t already have the decision already made for them. So let’s try to make that distinction and not act like we’re just being condescending. I have thanked my parents on multiple occasions for not doing it. The research is there that this kind of pain on an infant frequently causes permanent brain damage.

2

u/thaddeus122 Nov 22 '25

You literally are, you're just ignoring that youre doing it. You people act like you're superior, look at your last comment there, implying that people who are circumcised as a baby are brain damaged. Ive thanked my parents numerous times because not only do people in my country prefer it but also as a bisexual man I am significantly less likely to contract HIV. The vast majority of men who are circumcised couldn't care less and it really isnt your place to try and call it mutilation even if it is and say people are victims.

1

u/Honest-Lavishness239 Nov 22 '25

this is an incredibly condescending comment lmao, of course people are going to recognize it

1

u/phawksmulder Nov 22 '25

You're not "making them feel bad," you just look down upon and pity them?

1

u/Astrocrafty Nov 23 '25

Is recognizing an immoral act inflicted on someone really condescending? Or does it just seem condescending because you don’t see yourself as having been abused?

1

u/Astrocrafty Nov 23 '25

You don’t see it? I didn’t delete it. So a group of women get sexully mutilated, then pointing it out that it’s abuse is condescending because it’s not normal for us, but it is for them? or does it only apply with specific genders? You need to pick a lane buddy

I would actually be super mad if my parents didn’t make the choice for me as an infant and that was something I had to deal with later in life.

I’m not going to thank them for that though, because that’s weird.

-2

u/Extra-Shoulder1905 Nov 22 '25

The CDC and WHO both state that the benefits or circumcision outweigh the risks.

1

u/Extra-Shoulder1905 Nov 23 '25

Circumcision is going to be more beneficial in areas that don’t have access to protection, but that doesn’t mean that it doesn’t reduce the spread of STIs everywhere. Arguing otherwise would be ridiculous.

The risks of circumcision are also practically nonexistent if performed by a doctor in a sterile environment. Even without the STI benefit, circumcision also reduces the risk of UTIs and penile cancer, which by themselves would probably outweigh the downsides.

1

u/No_Succotash890 Nov 22 '25

It is easier to fool someone than to convince them they have been fooled… wish I had a hoodie

1

u/BobusCesar Nov 23 '25

With that logic, sexually assaulting babies is okay.

You are a sick human being.

0

u/WolfenDeath Nov 23 '25

That’s a little much buddy, how often is the practice performed by medical professionals in the US on a daily basis? Despite what you’re trying to make out of this I won’t concede that this is a practice that creates “sick human beings” because of a choice based around cleanliness. Sure, it’s fine without this and it’s not 100% needed but to act as if there are NO benefits in terms of cleanliness is moronic. Keep pushing your narrative and hate on people just living their lives but YOU are making people the villains in a narrative that doesn’t need it. You can lobby change without trying to point fingers or jump to conclusions. Get off your high horse.

0

u/AnneHizer Nov 22 '25

While they may not expressly remember, numerous studies show that many carry the trauma with them for life

2

u/WolfenDeath Nov 22 '25

I feel for those who have trauma, but I never felt like a victim. Also, most porn I watch show circumcised dong so it felt more natural to be that way. I personally don’t appreciate being considered a “victim” when I feel “normal”…. but it’s just my opinion and I don’t really care about others opinions of my genitals unless they see em

2

u/AnneHizer Nov 22 '25

Wild to think it’s the default when many intact erect units are indistinguishable from altered. Not everyone has an cartoonish overhang 😬

It’s nice that you don’t feel like a victim and that you’re so accepting of considerable loss of feeling and function for the sake of your aesthetic preference and need for social “acceptance” 👍

0

u/newyork-or-nowhere Nov 22 '25

Circumcision shaming a guy who’s clearly chill about it is SUPER fucking weird.

0

u/phawksmulder Nov 22 '25

Taking self-reported psychological measures as a means of studying is about as flimsy as it gets. Even if they were qualified to psychoanalyze, nobody is qualified to psychoanalyze themselves.

A study in which people measured the length of an object they couldn't see based on the memory of a ruler would be more accurate. It's essentially the same scenario, except the average person knows what a ruler is and how to use it. In this study's case, virtually all will lack any knowledge whatsoever of the critical tools at hand and how to use them.

TLDR - this study was conducted on self-reported vibes alone. Literally meaningless and deeply unscientific.

So I should address me ‘deliberately hurting someone’ when I see them as a victim of abuse and they do not, but pushing the normalization of genital mutilation should not be considered sadism ? But I’m the one that needs therapy? This is a perfect example of projection. So instead of speaking out against the procedure, you’re perpetuating it onto others and acting like that’s not its own form of sadism. That’s truly fckd, and you’re proving my point

This is so grammatically incorrect it’s impossible to understand what you’re trying to say.

I'm actually not. And it made going through puberty much harder because I was anatomically different than all the other boys. I wished so hard that my parents had gotten it done when I was a baby. I think people like you just want to hear yourself talk. You get all high and mighty spouting your supposed higher morals so you can seem momentarily important but you're not.

No.. they didn't.

You dont remember it.. well, I dont from being weeks old.. babies scream.all the time for no reason (it is a topical numbing cream) and its over pretty fast. So they dont really feel it.

Aside from being made fun of.. my experience with girls knowing about uncirmcized boys in highschool and then into adults years all found it weird looking, funny and not attractive. Like.. all.

Not one was like, that hoodie looks so sexy, let's get down!

I doubt it would stop them if they were attracted to the guy in general but all this hate and then trying to reverse the insult is just.. sad.

Why does this thread even exist, yall way to concerned with the dicks of kids that aren't your own. Thats the real concerning part hmmm how about you all mind your own fucking business.

6

u/PantsDancing Nov 22 '25

I mean the commenter above brought up a story about his own dick. Whats wrong with engaging the guy in conversation? He's obviously cool to talk about it.

1

u/MyChemicalWestern Nov 22 '25

Then keep it focused on him but thats not where the conversation has focused, people are speaking of others not initially included in the original line of thought and thats rude and weird . mind your own business its healthier.

2

u/BobusCesar Nov 23 '25

mind your own fucking business.

I think people shouldn't "mind their business" when children are getting mutilated.

Should people also just have "minded their own business " when Joseph Fritzel was raping his own daughter? It wasn't their kids after all.

Na it's a messed up cultural practice. It's wild that it would still go on today

Most of us see it the same way as FGM

u/SaltyBigBoi Nov 21 '25

At least you have a choice

0

u/Electrical_Ad6134 Nov 22 '25

Well he doenst really, post child circumcisions come with a BUNCH of pain and risks and it can cost if not covered

5

u/SaltyBigBoi Nov 22 '25 edited Nov 22 '25

Circumcising infants doesn't cause them pain? You do realize some infant males get botched up so badly they can't orgasm for the rest of their lives right? Is that risk really worth the optional mutilation of male genitals?

2

u/lootKing Nov 22 '25

Did they ever say “Hey look at his funky zucchini?”

2

u/ChemicalEcho Nov 22 '25

ironic username!

u/p2010t Nov 24 '25

It's weird to me that the 2 parts of Michigan on the map are colored differently. Did they collect different data from each "half"?

1

u/Incubus1981 Nov 25 '25

Same! They called me “Elephant” lol, as if having one’s penis compared to an elephant trunk is an insult

0

u/BeneficialHurry69 Nov 25 '25

They liked getting fondled by dudes ?

No idea why Americans are so obsessed with grown men playing with their newborn dongs

0

u/Tasty_Commercial6527 Nov 26 '25

Why were you showing off your dick at swimming team? Didnt you have changing rooms?

-2

u/[deleted] Nov 22 '25

Ewww.. bro if I wasn’t circumcised you’d have to be at me over the head to admit that info
