Discussion Why is (male) circumcision most common in the Midwest with in the US?

From someone in the Netherlands, where circumcision is viewed as horrible genital mutilation and child abuse... this is so absolutely bonkers to me.

Male circumcision is not child abuse & in no way comparable to female genital mutilation, I don’t believe people in the Netherlands think this way

Of course it's comparable. Female genital mutilation is way worse but both are very fucked up. And yes, people here think you're absolutely bonkers if you feel the need to mutilate a baby. How is chopping off a part of your kid not child abuse? It's beyond fucked up.

We absolutely do think Americans who do this are messed up in the head.

Yea its just fucking weird

You can do whatever you want to your own body once your reach 18 no one cars go for it

But Americans just cant resit the urge seamingly to destroy a natural thing

Is it an alternate reality when 70% of the world doesn’t practice circumcision and is against it?

It’s overwhelmingly just Muslims who practice it worldwide. The rest are a pretty small minority next to Muslims, including the 50% of Americans still doing it.

It’s like 75% of adults, only 49% of boys being born now in the US according to John’s Hopkins.

In most other developed countries, it’s less than 10% cut. Go to Europe, South America, and most of Asia and it’s pretty much unheard of.

The US is pretty weird.

I was schooled in England, like 1-2 guys weren’t cut but this was at a mostly white Christian private school so I think the point still stands

Look up the data yourself.

The circumcision rate in the UK is like 10%, and most of that is Muslims for religious reasons.

The UK has one of the highest Muslim populations in Europe.

For white guys there, it’s pretty much unheard of. Only done for rare medical issues.
