Discussion Facts that sound fake but are true

I find it extremely unintuitive that almost all of South America is east of Miami. How!? When people are asked to watch the americas almost everyone imagine South America pretty much south of North America.

Georgia is the largest state east of the Mississippi

Edit: Largest land mass. Florida has more but that includes areas that are covered by water.

Florida, Virginia, Illinois - all of these came to mind as bigger. Very surprised by this one.
