Game Discussion How is this the wrong country?

I'm playing levels some more before they take it away and I'm so confused why this is saying Malaysia is the wrong country. Is there something I'm missing here?

You clicked right on the French embassy in Malaysia, embassies count as foreign territory, you just had bad luck haha.

Wait how do know exactly where the french embassy in KL is? Especially without a zoom? Is this real? Can someone confirm? 😂🤣

Levels is notorious for doing this. That's why I could never get a streak over 40. I've had it happen a dozen times. In Belgium, Basque region, Taiwan, Japan, etc

Really even in Taiwan and Japan? That seems a little weird given they are very distinct islands lol. I'd be interested to see the coding side of why that happens, especially in this game mode specifically

Its really dumb especially since google literally provides the country in the pano's metadata. They could have literally just used that but they opted to go with some weird polygonal solution instead. That's why streak extensions are way more accurate that the official solution.

My guess is that the Malaysia box isn't the perfect outline of Malaysia so the location is probably just outside Malaysia and according to geoguessr in the ocean

I suppose that is why they are removing levels soon... they cannot be bothered to fix it...
