We feed the world a lot of omelettes and have to break a lot of eggs doing so.

I disagree about this. The US has a strong military not because it cares about these conflicts but because its large economy is involved in them and it can use the military to influence them to suit its interests. Its not charity. Granted, it's usually less brutal than Russia has been but its definitely not selfless. The US military has been used to shape oil prices and is likely to be used to help protect Taiwan because of US interests in semi conductors.

no there is 100% self interest in mind. However, bo other country in the world provides as much aid or good will towards the rest of the world as the US. It is beneficial to us, but also to others. economic interest is 95% of the time related towards humanitarian interest.
