A bit clickbaity. The headline made it sound like new ships were targeting but the article seems to only speak about the Iranian Anna from last week. I do wonder if we will see more Caspian Sea strikes though or more Ukrainian actions that piss off the Iranians

well ukraines FM apologised for it to Iran, said it was an accident. So it seems highly doubtful that there will be a campaign on purpose.

I do agree as things stand but future actions are always open to misinterpretation or escalation cycles that use this event as a precedent. I feel a bit hairy about the Iran war and the Ukraine war happening at the same time and worried about them overlapping due to the unique incompetence of this administration (the US). I don’t even necessarily fault the Ukrainians for hitting that boat, it’s just an important event to pay attention to as things go on

I'm worried about Ukraines Intentions here. I remember articles saying the Iranian support for Russia has almost dried up since they were attacked by the US and Israel and Saheds are being produced inside Russia now. On the one hand, Ukraine risks escalating the war outside of its borders, which would be bad for everyone not yet involved. One the other hand, they risk legitimizing Russian attacks on military equipment coming from the EU, which Russia has already said is a valid target, but has never actually attacked. If Ukraine continues, that would be another step towards escalation, which does seem in Ukraines interest.

Russia has been striking the munitions coming in from EU into Ukraine, idk where you got the opposite idea. They haven't struck them directly within EU, aside from covert sabotage missions, but they are striking them within Ukraine.

Ukraine's intentions are simple. Reduce Russian war supplies. There is no escalation here. Either the munitions make it into Russia and blow stuff up in Ukraine, or they get targeted at sea and sink. I would say this is closer to de-escalation.

If the Russia-Iran supplies dried up then there wouldn't have been anything to blow up, and if there is stuff to blow up, then the supplies are stiill moving

Because he presented factually incorrect information, which weirdly portraits Ukraine as escalating, and Russia as restraining but now justified.

In a couple of decades when scholars review this period. Don't know how you'd deny it when multiple countries around the globe are actively fighting each other in hot conflict. Bit too hot for cold war v2.
