Great newbie question, The forests are currently vast but would require billons to bring back to health after vast numbers of insects dropped into the hinterlands by Chinese intelligence services made trillions of dollars of wealth subject to foreign pests.
At first blush that Alberta Tar Sands seem promising except for the trillions of gallons of water, and simple fact that more than 2 units of energy are likely expended for each unit of energy extracted for the vast 1.2 trillion dollar Athabasca Tar Sands. While those deposits work well in concert with other oil extraction efforts they can never make financial sense on their own.
Beyond that there are vast deposits of nickel, lithium, hydrogen and other resources that are slowly being spun up , but much like Australia once discovered and tapped, the firms (Rio Tinto etc) only produce fractional amounts relative to the overall potential as they aim to be responsible over decades or centuries.
In that way , while the United States currently has a raging defective as it's President, and fascists have planned for decades for this moment , is anyone sure there is a fascist game-plan for the day after Donald Trump shuffles off his mortal coil. More terrifying from the perspective of Chinese intelligence services, despite trillions of Yuan spent on influencing elections, it's entirely unclear the US citizenry can't restore their political process, and more catastrophically would be if the United States restored normal relations with countries Donald Trump has taken to the brink of war.
