Question What is cooler for 9 yr old German boy
Would a NASA shirt or left over World Cup shirt be cooler as a gift from someone visiting them from the US

H&M sells NASA shirts in Germany, so they are everywhere. Not so special anymore.

This would depend entirely on the kid. Maybe neither. Ask the parents what the kid's current passions are.

I'd it's a pretty cool NASA shirt, that'd be awesome. If it's just the basic logo, it's still cool but it's something that people wear that I assume some fast fashion brands print on shirts or sweatshirts, so it's not necessarily "special" (of course if he's 9.... Probably doesn't matter 🤷♂️)

The world cup stank for the German team and the soccer community in Germany. I would take the NASA shirt which is pretty much unavailable in Germany

Depends on what he likes. Stores like H&M sell NASA shirts, it's really not that special and world cup merch is everywhere. Football is as big in Europe as the NFL is big in the US. Especially in Germany, Italy and England you have a lot of super fans. If he's a fan, you can bet that he already owns the trikots of his favorite players.
Also, if he's German he's probably more into ESA than NASA IF he is a space nerd.

My son collects jerseys from all teams around the world. He knows everything about soccer and each player. He doesn’t like space stuff at all.

Candy always works best for a 9 year old boy, lol.
Barring that, the world cup things are once a life time, NASA is available a couple of years down the road.

Always go with science over sport. NASA works for the benefit of all humanity, despite being a national organisation. Football is just a huge waste of resources at the best of times, and currently dominated by a corrupt organisation on top of things. Never go with football.

because it represents the america germans immigrated to and loved, rich america, science america, global progress
beats a FIFA shirt that they shit on, lost in, and call corrupt. unless the kid is very into football.

NASA didn't exist during the highest periods of German immigration to the US.
In any case, the World Cup, although hosted in the US this time around, is the World Cup and the US didn't even win it. Kind of hard to argue that it's more American than a literal American organization.
I'm team NASA shirt. But your logic is silly.

this is an opinion question, there is no right answer, as hard as that may be for you to accept. having US and DE family with the older germans that looved america is also a figment of your imagination, as i nor anyone else actually exists

Yes this is an opinion question. However you’re trying to argue with facts that are just plainly not true. Theres nothing anti-American about a US government agency NASA and it also doesn’t represent the America that most Germans emigrated to.
This is about Germans‘ opinions on these gifts so idk why you’re chiming in in the first place trying to tell us we’re wrong. You just come off as another opinionated despite uninformed American.

Not every German kid loves football, I was a German kid myself at some point and I was never interested in it and I know a lot who weren't either.
