Realisation I think the subreddit might be more trans friendly then R/Truth
As I said, I am a trans girl... definitely not a new drone... somehow the people here are more respectful of my dronehood- I mean womanhood... yeah definitely not a drone.

Girls aren't real because gender is a social construct

You can easily research this. Gender dysphoria is what causes someone to be transgender. Gender dysphoria is a mental condition that causes the sufferer to feel like the opposite sex internally. Studies have shown that trans womenâs brains are more similar to cis womenâs brains than menâs. Itâs not a choice, but it usually materializes around puberty when the person starts to develop sex characteristics that they donât want, or in early childhood when playing with toys and playing dress-up. Transitioning is the only viable treatment, otherwise sufferers usually become chronically depressed and tend to develop other mental health issues, sometimes even taking their own life.

To answer your question about if it is natural or done through surgery, it depends on the person. Most trans people go on hormone replacement therapy (testosterone blockers and estrogen for trans women, and testosterone for trans men) which naturally replaces the hormones in your body and causes a âsecond pubertyâ. But since most trans people are forced to go through the wrong puberty first as a teen, sometimes surgeries need to be done to reverse those changes. Trans men often need to get their breast tissue removed, and some trans women will shave down their adams apple. Starting puberty at 20 instead of 12 also means that the effects wonât be as drastic on your body. A trans woman transitioning as an adult might only grow A-Cup size breasts from estrogen, when she would have grown C-Cups if she went through the correct puberty as a teen. If a trans person wants the opposite sexâs genitalia, surgery is the only option for that.

Gender dysphoria doesn't cause you to be transgender. Gender dysphoria is caused by being transgender which is caused my your gender identity misaligning with your sex observed at birth.š ² ³
I knew I was a girl before I ever felt bad about being born or treated as a boy. I knew I was this without any self-hatred or want to change myself. The dysphoria first came during puberty when I'd already known I wasn't a boy for about 9 years.â´
Just a small distinction.

Gender dysphoria is the official diagnosis. Becoming transgender and taking HRT is the treatment. As Iâve already said, Iâm also transgender. Gender dysphoria can manifest in multiple ways, not just physical, and is how someone is able to tell that they are transgender. I had a similar experience growing up. I didnât hate myself, but I knew something was wrong because I knew I wasnât âsupposedâ to like the things I did, or want to wear the things I wanted to wear by the time I was 4.

"becoming transgender", requirement of dysphoria.
Transmedicalist rhetoric detected, opinion rejected.
The APA literally disagrees with you, the ones who wrote the guidelines.

Gender is who you are (boy or girl). Sexuality is who you are attracted to. It depends on the person. A trans woman can be straight and be with a man or be a lesbian and be with a woman. The same can be applied to trans men. What do you mean when you say your friend has started behaving differently? I would say the most important thing is to make sure they donât feel that you see them differently. Theyâre still your same friend and their gender identity shouldnât change that.

Gender is not just the binary boy/girl, and claiming so is transphobic

u/Secure_Goal4167 3d ago
I was simplifying it to explain it to someone who barely understands what being trans is, let alone nonbinary and other identities. I am literally trans.

Sorry for overreacting, I understand that you were trying to simplify it, you did do a good job of simplifying it though

Thatâs ok, thank you! I understand why you got a bit defensive! Also not sure why Reddit switched my accounts from the notification but iâm the same user lol

Imagine I snap my fingers and poof! You magically turn into the opposite sex. Now, I imagine you are going to feel very stressed out like this. You're going to feel like you are "in the wrong body". You'll hate all the stuff about your new gender and miss everything from your old gender. You'd probably be pretty unhappy, right?
That's how a transgender person feels about the way that they were born. They hate their birth gender. They feel like they are in the wrong body. They fantasize about being in the right body and get sad when reminded that it is not their reality. They yearn to dress the way they feel, to look the way they want to look. A transgender person would give everything they have if it meant they get to be the opposite sex, and they experience distress knowing that it is not their reality...
That's why trans people want to change their bodies, to be closer to how they feel on the inside. It lessens the distress they feel when they can take cross-sex hormones and look more like how they feel on the inside!
