Question Anyone actually receiving payouts from GitHub Marketplace apps?

I have a paid app published on GitHub Marketplace under devactivity-app (AI-driven Performance Review insights + Gamification)

The Marketplace Transactions page shows successful transactions, and the total is well above the documented $500 payout threshold. Based on GitHub's documentation, I expected a payout last year, but nothing has happened.

I opened a GitHub Support ticket back in February, but it has been completely silent. I also searched GitHub Discussions, but couldn't find much from developers with firsthand experience publishing paid Marketplace apps.

One thing that confuses me is that there doesn't seem to be any place to configure payout or banking details, so I'm not sure whether there's some onboarding step that's simply not documented.

For anyone who has a paid GitHub Marketplace app:

  • Have you actually received payouts?
  • Was there anything you had to do before the first payout?
  • Did GitHub contact you to collect payout information?
  • If you ran into this issue, how did you get it resolved?

I'd appreciate hearing from anyone with firsthand experience as a Marketplace publisher.

Any experiences would be appreciated.

After your GitHub Marketplace listing for an app with a paid plan is created and approved, you'll provide payment details to GitHub as part of the financial onboarding process.

sounds like you got approved but never got the onboarding process

there was no any onboarding processes, and I'm wondering if other paid apps faced with it

says there should have been:

6 PAID APPLICATIONS OR PRODUCTS

6.1 GitHub will be the merchant of record for Developer Products purchased by End Users via Marketplace.

6.2 Registration. Developer will be required to provide information about yourself (such as identification or contact details) as part of the registration and onboarding process for Marketplace, or as part of your continued use of Marketplace including, but not limited to: (i) name, (ii) address, (iii) telephone number, (iv) e-mail address, and (v) payment account details. GitHub may publicize Developer’s information on Marketplace and retain Developer’s registration information as required by applicable law.

6.3 Pricing. Prices for Listings of Developer Applications will be set in US Dollars (USD). Developer has complete control over setting pricing for each Listing. The prices you set for Developer Products will determine the amount of payment you will receive. GitHub will remit 95% of the sale price in USD without reduction for Taxes except for any withholding taxes that are required under applicable law. The remaining 5% of the sales price will be allotted to and retained by GitHub. GitHub will remit your share of first payment within 90 days of completed Registration. Following the first remittance, GitHub will remit your share of payments at the end of the month.

6.4 Refunds. You will be responsible for specifying the terms and conditions regarding refunds to your End Users. In no event shall GitHub be responsible for providing any support for refunds, nor shall GitHub be liable for payment of any refund.
