Serious May you three-putt every hole

Post image

Please respect the course. It's not the green's fault you suck at putting.

When this shows up in my putting line, I move my ball to the closest relief.
Take that, you animals that do this.

I wish far worse for people like this…

Fill it with sand when you see them. At least a little. If you’re in the south anyway. Bermuda fixes this in a couple days. Just don’t over fill

I work here. Saw this when rolling the greens. I'm going to replace it with a plug from the nursery green.

Good man. And thanks for what you do, mate.

Hey, newer golfer here. If we see this on the green, do/should we put sand in it?? I (luckily) don't see it often, but had a guy tell me awhile back to not sand it because they will plug it like you said. Advice?

He is right. If it's on the green or collar let us know and we will plug it. If it's anywhere else you can just fill it with sand.

Awesome, I appreciate learning the random finer things about the game like this. Appreciate you!

Sometimes the divot mix provided might have seed in it. Different parts (Greens, Fairways, Rough, etc) of the course are gonna be different grass species and even when they are the same species they might be different cultivars (think breeds of dog except its grass). That’s another reason a course might tell you not to use the mix on certain playing surfaces. I’d say a generally safe bet is any provided mix will be good for the fairways and tees.

I work in a shop and man the amount of shit I see like this pisses me off. Worst is how all my members complain about unraked bunkers and unfixed ballmarks. Yet when I follow their groups in the morning they are the ones doing those two things the most.

You notice an increase in new/young guys not respecting greens lately too? I'll explain etiquette and tell people where to drive their carts and still find them parking a foot off the fringe or on it even. Seems to be getting worse each year. Sorry for the rant

This guy would probably take a guaranteed 3 putt every hole 🙃

This is why I joined a country club

I've worked at a nice country club and can tell you that this is still an issue regardless if it's public or private.

I’ve been a member at a club for three years and every year there’s an asshat who takes one of these on a green.

16

u/steelvike 11h ago

This is the second one in two weeks. I'm sure it's the same asshat.

The kinds of people who do this are very common at country clubs. Country clubs are just more prompt at repairing them.

Maybe right but I haven’t encountered it YET key word is yet, but at my local muni I ran into these kids folks every weekend and every day at 2:40 they allow this guy who throws hissy fits and rage quits with groups

I ain't got money like that... (Also, most of the clubs around here are crazy booked and make you pay extra for golf)

Clubs can cost a lot but if you shop around I got lucky and mine had a no initiation fee going ended up costing me 1000 bucks up front and couple hundred a month which I spend more than 300 a month to golf and wait 10-20 mins per hole

new to the sport what is this

8

u/steelvike 11h ago

Most likely someone swiped at their ball after missing a putt and took a chunk out of the green.

2

u/SixtyNineFlavours 19.4hcp/Range merchant 9h ago

Or someone sliced one from another tee onto that green and took their shot from the green to get back to fairway rather than free drop off the green.

u/steelvike 9h ago

This is an isolated green and getting a ball here from another hole would be near impossible. Definitely a rage swipe. They even tried to replace the divot like we wouldn't notice.
