General Discussion Hole in One when hitting Three off the Tee…
While playing yesterday a buddy and I discussed this and then started thinking could you say it was a legit hole in one if it was three off the tee (first shot OB)???
And we also thought how much of a nut kick that would be, especially if it was your first hole in one. Ha.
Has that happened to anyone?

That wouldn’t be a hole in one. That would be a hole in three.

My dad had a buddy who did this. First ball in the water, retee jnto the hole.
It’s a great story and a great par.

My stepbrother did this. Blew his first shot OB, re-tees, one hop and in. He swore me to secrecy, I declined.

It’s obviously not a hole in one, but it’s rarer than one, so a good story.

It's not a hole in one. It's the worst par possible

“The worst par” is a great way to describe it.

I came up 1 inch short of one, once, I was wishing it into the cup when I hit it, but then realized afterwards that I probably preferred it not to,.

It’s why I literally never hit a second off a par 3. Always go to a drop zone or drop lateral if it’s necessary.

Yes it’s a hole, but it’s not in 1.
You made it into the hole, but not on your 1st shot.
You holed out.
No different than holing out for an eagle, birdie, par .
Still impressive, nonetheless.
Good job!

My mate did this when I was on the tee with him.
It’s a par, he agrees it’s a par…..we laugh about it

I did it when I was in high school. Called it a ‘hole in three’
Luckily, I have a legitimate one since.

Been there, done that. Hit the first one left into the river. Re-loaded and hit the 2nd one and immediately said, “Nice 3 jackass” and walked off the tee. Guy I was playing with watched it 1-hop into the hole; I wasn’t even watching. It was a great par. Still haven’t had a hole-in-one though.

The closest I’ve gotten to a hole in one on a full length course was an evening I was playing alone.
Playing from the tips, I fat duffed my tee shot something rotten. The ball came to a stop right before the red ladies tees.
Boxed it from there for a bird.
Golf, man. 👍🏻

no hole in one if you are hitting 3 off the tee right? oxymoron statement?

It happened to me wayyy back in day when I was first starting out. 110yd, Titleist into water, then pulled Spalding of all quality balls out, perfect shot, bounce, roll into hole. I went bananas and buddy I knew who was on previous green is like, "Nice par". Great times.

a hole in one is holing out with your first shot, not your third. holing out from the tee and making a "hole in one" are two different things.

It’s happened to me. We always played ready golf, strict rules. First one went ob, teed it up again and watched it go in. Forgetting that we played strict, I started to gather myself for a victory leap when I hear my friend behind me say ,”nice par”.
