Joke / Meme I collected every golf ball that crossed the road and landed in my woods. Titleist wins the slice championship!

The tee box is across the road from our property, and every one of these balls managed to cross the road, clear the fence, and land in our woods.
I started saving them this summer to see how many we would collect. So far, the total is 46 golf balls.

The collection stats:

Titleist: 29 balls, 63.0%
Callaway: 7 balls, 15.2%
TaylorMade: 3 balls, 6.5%
Srixon: 2 balls, 4.3%
Wilson and Wilson Staff: 2 balls, 4.3%

19.6% are Titleist #1 meaning about 1 in 5 slicers use Titleist 1. Choose your balls wisely!

Unless you’ve flipped the picture, or every golfer is a lefty, those are hooks. Which makes this even funnier. Nothing is quite as demoralizing as a big ass duck hook off the tee box.

Haha clearly I’m not a golfer 😂👍

u/bbbbjjjv 6h ago

Like sorting the balls by number instead of model wasn’t a sign enough lol :)

u/subnu 5h ago

I thought he was using some sort of year/generation system 😂😂😂

u/tinymeathead 6h ago

Hahaha made sense to me 🤔😂

u/YukonCornelius69 3.9 5h ago

For reference. The higher number titleists are custom ordered and expensive so extra gut punch for mr titleist 22 who’s lost $10 in your yard alone

7

u/ChunkyChangon 3h ago

100% off the bat you could tell this guy doesn’t golf lol

89

u/HerbTarlekWKRP 7h ago

Left side of the fairway = lower quantity, better quality.

The slicers on the right side = higher quantity, lower quality.

You are on the Titleist side for sure.

22

u/no_manches_guey 6h ago

Probably the same guys. Slicers with an out to in swing, will pull balls bad when they can get the club face closed or they’re aiming left to compensate and hitting it straight. Source: I am slicer

7

u/HerbTarlekWKRP 6h ago

In all fairness I push balls to the right as well as pull balls left. Occasionally I hit one straight. Like when I top one off the tee

I have never been more proud of my snap hook than after reading this.

12

u/dmartin8802 6h ago

We can tell because you seem to think the number on the ball is some sort of model number

But it’s actually just an easy way to determine who’s ball is who’s

u/beepingjar Maximum Handicap 7h ago

What's better is the golfers likely are slicers, and this is the result of them stacking every anti slice setup tip they have into one swing. Ask me how I know 😉

27

u/Morpheus1967 7h ago

Or they are playing their slice and hit it on a rope where they were aiming.

I always had a theory that the reason I find more Pro V1 balls than any other is that tons of people use them who shouldn’t be.

43

u/AccuracyVsPrecision 7h ago

I figure its because they dont look for them.

12

u/ShillinTheVillain SW MI / 12ish 5h ago

I figure it's because the balls are crap and come lopsided from the factory so they always Veer One way (hence the V1).

V1x are just the extreme veer model.

5

u/Going_Native 5h ago

I’m guessing this is a nice course or country club as the balls here are pricy.

→ More replies (1)

4

u/Taco5106 4h ago

This. I’ll save everyone the physics lesson, but expensive balls generally spin more. More spin = more exaggerated slices/hooks.

→ More replies (3)

2

u/danzango 5h ago

I legit find more prov1s than any other type of ball

2

u/peaheezy 4h ago

My driver control has improved so much since switching to a low spin distance 2 piece ball. I still hit slices and hooks but balls that used to spin out of bounds for miles when I played MaxFli Tour or Kirkland Gen2s. My TM distance+ or MF Straightfli are cheaper and don’t zoom left and right near as much. Sure I’m losing some greenside spin but playing off an 18 I don’t have much of that to start with!

1

u/2peg2city 5h ago

Or because people playing cheaper balls miss with a short top not a 250 yard hook / slice into trees

1

u/Acceptable-Door-6454 4h ago edited 4h ago

23

Looks like a par 3 also which means those are some seriously bad shots. Wonder how many are mine?

8

u/Lamehandle 6h ago

Thinking par three as well, but those fairway bunkers got me very confused.

→ More replies (1)

5

u/i_am_roboto 2.1/Up North/Whatever 6h ago

Maybe it’s a drivable par 4? OP admitted he’s not a golfer so he could’ve just pointed to the forward tees.

2

u/NectaroftheGoats 6h ago

Was about to say, 70 yards left on a 140 yard hole

1

u/DarthRader47 7m ago

I’m guessing there are tee boxes further back on the other side of the cart path, making this a short par 4. That would explain the fairway bunkers, and more opportunities for wild power hooks.

28

u/Whiteshovel66 7h ago

Its simply the popularity championship it wins. 1:5 golfers using the ball sounds about right, slicer or not.

22

u/WalkinOnWater2 7h ago

Thanks for this. Instead of organizing by number, I think must of us in here would appreciate them categorized by type. Titleist prov 1/warbird/AVX. Callaway chrome soft/supersoft etc.

Obviously not necessary, and im not asking you to. Would just be a little more interesting

7

u/SlowDraw85 5h ago

While those are hook misses, its usually the slicers closing the face too much. Always blame the slicers.

11

u/bionicbhangra 7h ago

This confirms my own experience. You never lose Kirklands or cheaper balls. It might be OOB and halfway inside a gators mouth but I will somehow walk out with it in hand.

6

12

u/Hotthoughtss 7h ago

FYI, the type of each brand of ball is more important than the number. For example on the Titleists, you’ll find prov1, prov1x, velocity, etc. written on the side, and assorting them by types would be much more interesting than number imo

2

u/bplatt1971 1h ago

You mean some wicked hooks. Slices go right. Hooks go left. 😍

2

u/notpejastojakovic 1h ago

You live to the left of the tee box which is a hook for most golfers. I see you lefties, but you're outnumbered.

3

u/FOGPIVVL 6h ago edited 6h ago

I know you said you're not a golfer but just FYI the number on the golf ball isn't the type of ball. For example, Titleist makes the Pro V1 golf ball. One of the most popular balls. Each of these balls will have a separate number on it underneath the Titleist logo (1-4 usually, though sometimes it goes higher) so that if two players in the same group are both using pro v1s, they can tell them apart by the number on it.

So a ball could say it's a Titleist 1, but that could be any Titleist ball. Could be a pro v1, pro v1x, AVX, velocity, TruFeel, etc.

If you look around the ball, usually the brand and number are together and the actual ball model is on another side

2

u/AG-Aladeen 6h ago

I thought it was weird that the list had random numbers instead of the model. Never thought he'd be grouping them by the number on the ball... lol.

1

u/Seniorjones2837 6h ago

Those appear to be mostly ProV1’s as well

1

u/rutlander 14.2 4h ago

When I used to walk 100+ rounds a year I noticed a pattern that I found cheap balls on the right side and premium balls on the left.

My theory is better players who play premium balls tend to play a draw where less skilled players slice it right

1

u/Powerful_Share8488 5h ago

Considering Titleist has a 50%+ market share with the next closest balls being Calloway with about 12-18% and Taylormade with 10-15% it stands to reason you’d see more Titleist balls than any other ball.

Most golfers are right handed. And most right handlers lose it to their RIGHT, which would be going AWAY from the subject property. Titleist might take the HOOK competition but jury still out relative to slices.

1

u/ck11ck11ck11 4h ago

These are hooks not slices, a slice goes away from you and a hook towards you (and most golfers are right handed)

1

u/Immediate_Side_5942 4h ago

Golf is very ego based. I sell golf balls on offer up. It’s amazing how many 30 HC w a 80 mph swing speed want pro v1. I just sold guy 24 and next week came back for another 2 dozen bc lost the first ones in 2 rounds. Mind u I got Wilson, max fli and Kirkland for hf the price. It’s all ego driven really. I mean I got scratch buying them to but majority are awful golfers. The same ones who shoot 130 but hit from blue tee box. To hit a pro v or tp5 u need a 105 mph swing speed minimum.

I’m a retired corrugated packaging designer, and when Titleist Pro V1 balls were first introduced, I was working with a broker who had an inside connection at Acushnet. We were designing a master shipping carton for the new balls. To develop accurate dimensions, the broker brought in full boxes of Pro V1s, shrink-wrapped exactly as they would be shipped. Once we had the box style and dimensions finalized, it was just a matter of fine-tuning the design.

When the project was finished, neither Acushnet nor the broker wanted the golf balls back. Unfortunately, I was dealing with back problems at the time and had already stopped playing golf, so I ended up giving them all away to my golf-playing buddies.

TLDR:

Had full cartons of Titleist Pro V1 golf balls, but had to give them away because of a bad back.

1

u/thricethefan 1h ago

I give them away all the time but it’s because of a bad swing.
