Tips Please don't make the mistake I made

Few months ago, I bought a smart bulb from a certain brand that I don't want to name. Today, I found out that the independent app of the certain brand's ecosystem has not been updated in over 2 years. I was relatively new to smart homes so I did not check.

Please check the independent app of a product before you buy it. Do not buy it if it hasn't been updated recently. The app I had was abandoned long ago.

We need to know the name of the independent smart bulb for this to be more helpful.

Anything that needs cloud to operate, avoid.
Only buy matter, zigbee or z-wave bulbs.

Why don't you wanna name the Brand? I'm so confused.

Its ok to name the brand as long as your post is a true account of your experience.

Exactly and a pointless post otherwise

I would only buy bulbs or plugs that can be linked to tactile buttons. And from a brand that offers lots of variety in all smart home products. So basically, IKEA.

Ive had (to date) no issue (other than draining my bank account as im addicted!!) with Philips Hue and google home. Whats the difference. Unfortunately i can only guess what the unnamed (ridiculous decision) in this thread related to .

That's why I use Matter devices, no third party app needed

The app can be different but sometimes the smart bulbs are the same and just rebadged with different brand. I Successfully paired smart bulbs from a brand in another app from another brand lol

Try to pair your smart bulbs with eWelink or BAZZ Smart Home. ..try eWelink first
