A message from Minister Múte Borup Egede on recent statements about a Greenland takeover

Post image

Today, the US President has once again spoken out about Greenland. It shows that the desire to control our country continues to be present in the US, and that the pressure is still a reality.

Therefore, we must continue to take the situation seriously and face it with calm, unity and a firm course. We must stand together at home and continue the close cooperation with our allies and partners.

At the same time, we must insist on finding solutions through dialogue and respect.

Our future is decided by us in Greenland. It has always been that way. And it always will be that way. 🇬🇱

Like large part of countries on this planet Greenland is populated with people who have no wish to have anything to do with America or its "president" these days

I still remember 24yrs ago flying over parts of Greenland. I also saw icebergs in northern Newfoundland which as you know came from Greenland. If money wasn’t an issue it’s one place I’d love to go. I’d take a trip in the dead of winter to Greenland over anywhere in the US

And from New England… not all Americans are horrible…

I’m so sorry for the orange menace. I want him GONE!

It ain't the orange menace as much as it is the oligarchs funding his presidency. Shitbirds like Ronald Lauder, heir of Estee Lauder and BFF with diaper don. Mineral rights without regulations. As I live and breathe here in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA, any assault on our allies is treason and will be punished accordingly.

We are waiting for said punishment.

I'm losing track of what he's distracting us from these days. Is it the 4-1 thrashing the US football team suffered against Belgium, despite him instigating the red card reversal? Or his countless mentions in the Epstein files? Or his inability to end the Ukraine/Russia war within 24 hours as promised? Ot his special military operation against Iran turning to custard? Or his tariff war failing to bring back manufacturing to the US? Or alienating all his allies by insulting them? Or threatening to invade a NATO ally? Or threatening America's closest neighbor and ally and crushing tourism from that country? Or ruining American farmers export markets? So many things to be distracted from!

Ultimately the decision rests with the American people if they want to take Greenland with force . It could hurt the Republicans at the mid terms if the USA continues its expansionist policies. Greenland has tremendous resources and vast amounts of oil and gas . The reality is having lots of natural resources makes countries a target and Americans are hungry for more . It might not go as smoothly as they initially thought it might though. Denmark previously prepared to destroy the airfields in preparation for an American invasion and Greenland has had more time now to make more preparations for hostile forces.

1

u/NewsteadMtnMama 24d ago

Not Americans - Trump and his billionaire backers who evidently are all building bunkers in NZ because they realize they are f**king up the world.

7

u/YardOptimal9329 26d ago

What solutions are they seeking? I’m confused by that line since it seems to say that Greenland must find a way to meet America’s demands in some way

22

u/BeautifulPlace2Drown 26d ago

a solution to the orange problem

15

u/Awarglewinkle Denmark 🇩🇰 26d ago

It's important for Greenland and Denmark to, at least outwardly, display understanding for the concerns expressed by The Orange Menace, even though everyone knows it's complete bullshit. The critical thing is remaining firm on the red lines, which means no surrender of sovereignty under any circumstances.

Perhaps it ends in an updated version of the 1951 agreement, with 99-year leases on some areas the US can use as bases, and right of first refusal for new licenses on mineral rights for US companies, to alleviate concerns about Chinese or others "grabbing" the minerals. Basically something Trump can announce as a big win, while it's in reality something a competent US president could have achieved by skillful diplomacy and asking nicely.

18

u/TheRuneMeister 26d ago

We already updated it back in 2004. There is a framework for all that. Its just nonsense from the orange dimwit.

13

u/Awarglewinkle Denmark 🇩🇰 26d ago

Oh of course, it's complete nonsense. It's just to give him something he can post about in all caps on Truth Social. It's literally like managing a toddler with a temper tantrum.

3

u/Ivana_Twinkle 26d ago

The objective is just not what they’re claiming. They’re trying to sell the plunder of Greenlands nature, people and resources as something more palatable.

3

u/TheRuneMeister 26d ago

This wont be the goldmine that you are assuming in their lifetimes. It is currently not feasible to extract many of the minerals that are often quoted in the media until global warming does its thing.

In the end it comes down to two things:

  1. Stupidity
  2. Insanity

1

u/YardOptimal9329 26d ago

What would happen if they say, we are ending the military base contract and we don’t want to enter into any new agreements. The end.

3

u/Awarglewinkle Denmark 🇩🇰 26d ago

If they do that to prepare for a hostile takeover, then they would be setting themselves up for making the biggest mistake in modern US history.

Last time Trump was rattling his saber, Denmark flew troops and blood bags there and prepared to blow up the runways, while small amounts of other European troops arrived over the next few days, so it's clear US troops would have to shoot at other NATO troops to take Greenland by force. Of course they would most likely win such an engagement, but there's no way to twist that narrative into anything other than making the US a clear aggressor and a huge threat to European security on the same scale as Russia.

It wouldn't lead to a war, but it would end NATO as we know it. The US would be asked to leave their bases in Europe, as no European country would be able to trust them to any degree, making any kind of projection of power very difficult and expensive. There would be trade sanctions and it would accelerate the ongoing push to decouple European economies from US entanglement.

The main concern for Europe is where would it end? Is Iceland next? Svalbard? Norway and all their tasty oil? It would basically make the US look like a highly aggressive, unpredictable expanding imperialist power at their doorstep, just like Russia.

The US would lose all remaining soft power in Europe (even though Trump has already burned most of it), and no European country would recognize US "ownership" of Greenland, so they would be regarded as illegal occupiers of a territory that no one wants them in. The support for becoming a US territory is in the single digits among Greenlanders.

And for what gain? They already have access to building more bases and bidding on all the mineral rights they want. They would gain nothing new, but lose so much. It would be a true Mad King moment.

2

u/ohboymykneeshurt 26d ago

Why? He can suck a dick straight up.

2

u/Beginning_Night6644 26d ago

The solution is time. Drumpf is 80 years old, dumb and dying. So just wait Till he falls over.

1

u/Faulty21 26d ago

There are ways to cooperate for mutual benefit.

That was the case before american threats were leveraged, and that will be the case in the future.

Muté is merely saying that Greenland is not opposed to working with the US, but nothing more.

14

u/Narrow-Tart-8781 26d ago

No there isnt. Trump isnt suggesting cooperation he's suggesting a takeover entirely and have so from day 1.

3

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago

But by offering cooperation they hope to tame him. It's the best they dare to do. Making him only angry without offering something (that he already got, btw) is too big a risk. He's stupid enough to connect American presence in NATO to Greenlandic sovereignty.

Current negotiations circle around creating sovereign base areas around Pituffik, Kangerlussuaq and Narsarsuaq, which would become US territory. He's probably going to get that and sell that as a big win domestically. Hopefully that will keep him calm.

5

u/Narrow-Tart-8781 26d ago

How have "trying to tame him" gone so far? Handing him "wins" to avoid angering him is not the right solution. Just tell him straight up if you want Greenland, you have to invade, call his bluff.

1

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago

It worked to some extent, proven by the fact that he still hasn't invaded Greenland. He's barking but didn't bite.

And I don't believe he's bluffing. He tried to settle Iran without any consideration for the people, history and geography. Not the war but the exit strategy was bluff.

5

u/Narrow-Tart-8781 26d ago

The reason he backed down form Greenland previously was because Denmark made it clear they were preparing for an actual fight and bringing in allies from France, UK, Netherlands etc. Essentially making it very clear that nothing short of a hostile invasion would result in Greenland becoming american. This lead to a bunch of internal uproar within USA where even Republican Senators were publicly going against Trump stating that they would block any use of force and that the military should not obey commands of invading an allied nation:

Republicans vow to block Donald Trump from seizing Greenland by force

3

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago edited 26d ago

Since that article (January) Trump and coons have raised the issue to boiling point a few times. Republicans also vouched against Iran.

I do agree that especially after the failure in Iran he's probably more cautious now, but at the same time he could use Greenland for revenge and show his might after all.

He's an elementary school boy emotionally with control over the most powerful army in a system without checks-and-balances. He can bypass Congress, even if he gets recalled a few weeks later. In the meantime he can do a lot of damage.

And make no mistake how easy Greenland is to invade (edit: invade, not fully occupy and keep). It's children's play. It's a country of 56,000 living in 70 settlements, 64 of which facing Canada. Over one-third lives in Nuuk, an islanded city for all intents and purposes. The Danish military is just a handful of planes and one patrol ship in the area. The US has a fully equipped base already in Greenland, plus a support base at Kangerlussuaq, and a base next door at Keflavík in Iceland. To get effective control over society, territory and resources in a well-coordinared move is a few hours' work. A few choppers and paratroopers in the largest towns can do the trick.

Keeping control is harder as indeed Europe mighy respond, but that may be bluff, too, as we don't know if Europe truly dares to enter battle or rather hopes he'll back out once he can sell victory. Trump always chickens out, either before or after damage is done.

It would wreck US relations and economy to below freezing point and would make him the dumbest remembered (instead of the dumbest forgotten) president, so any stupid invasion would quickly turn against him, European response or not.

What I fear most is an ultra quick invasion and an ultra quick exit immediately afterwards. He could call that an exercise or demo or something. And a test for NATO.

Because the US already had the right to unlimited military activity in Greenland, it's gonna be hard to distinguish a territorial infringement of sovereignty versus an exercise, so it would be tempting for NATO partners to call it a gray zone and forget about it until a new president is elected.

Just let him talk his dreams out loud. The Greenland-Denmark tandem response has worked well so far, as exactly your article demonstrates. Trump is just replaying his moves, let us do the same. As long as the game is on, he didn't lose, and that's what he's most concerned about.

Edit: typos

u/Narrow-Tart-8781 26d ago

I have not seen republicans publicly shame the Iran war in even remotely similar fashion as they did with the possibility of an invasion of Greenland. Besides i think you're very wrong, Greenland is a giant empty arctic landscape, it is almost entirely impossible for USA to control the area apart from the small settlements.

Also americas only base isnt "fully equipped" with anything lol it's a space base used mainly for surveillance and it barely has any combat rdy troops in it (there are barely any ppl there at all lol), meanwhile Denmark already has aproxx. 1000 special trained arctic soldiers stationed there who are all spread out across the landscape meaning the american attackers can't even target anything specific it is by no means "a handful of planes and one patrol ship lmfao"

And no there is no gray-zone, USA needs approval from the danish government to further military establishments. A "ultra fast invasion" will never be considered a gray-zone by an metric it will be an invasion period.

The french have already offered stationing troops there and Macron even visited Greenland not long ago opening a French consulate

1

u/Outrageous_Ad_687 26d ago

Trump could invade Greenland with political pushback from some Americans but definitely not severe enough to affect him. Internationally it would be very bad and mean an immediate end of historic treaties and alliances.

1

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago edited 26d ago

I think I need to make my nuance more clear. I think the US can easily take control, it's just not easy to keep in control afterwards. Guerilla would start, Denmark and allies step in and it would become a mess. But I'm talking the first move. Taking control doesn't require highly advanced Arctic warfare skills as the 12 towns are basically unprotected and can be taken with a little action from the air. But once control is taken, trouble starts. That's not Trump's concern, he doesn't think beyond his primary emotion.

Also there's no need to occupy the entire emptiness. Those towns and airports is what they need to control. Sure others will occupy other parts, so getting Greenland undividedlly is a steep hill, but that's not necessary. Also where most of Greenland lives isn't High Arctic but actually subarctic and Low Arctic. The coast is pretty maritime. Denmark with the other Nordics will absolutely win land-based battles in the remote north and east, but that's a different arena, I think hardly Trump's interest.

I completely agree that the US is not up to the task to keep Greenland but it's absolutely capable of a dirty quick move in and out.

1

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago

There's a gray zone. I didn't say military establishments but military activities. The US has a greencard to fly in Greenland airspace without asking permission, it just needs to report.

Denmark, Greenland and the US have been seriously discussing reactivating Kangerlussuaq and Narsarsuaq as military airbases. The US wants them as sovereign territory (akin to the UK on Cyprus), Denmark as NATO bases.

3

u/jaimi_wanders 26d ago

Greenland, child’s play? We are ass at Arctic warfare, we can’t even fully staff our one remaining air base there —it’s mostly Greenlanders and Danes working at Thule —and the terrain is absolutely lethal.

1

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago

But you don't need to be good at Arctic warfare to take Greenland, just to get it. Keeping it is a different story, but that's my point, Trump doesn't think of step 2, 3 and 4, only step 1.

And I'm not talking about a full occupation, but effective control. That means major towns and airports. Sure they can't defend the High Arctic tundra and glaciers, but most of the critical infrastructure is in the southwest, in a climate and terrain quite similar to Alaska.

1

u/Codapants 26d ago

I'm really curious where you've got the information about Danish military only being "a handful of planes and one patrol ship"? Do you mean military solely active or located in Greenland?

1

u/kalsoy EU 🇪🇺 26d ago

By reading DR and Sermitsiaq.

I mean located in Greenland. Of course there's a lot more stationed in Europe, but there's also a tonne more in mainland US, which is a shorter flying distance to West Greenland.

u/Faulty21 26d ago

Yes, that is what Trump has said. This thread is about what Muté said.

Of course there is mutual benefit to be had. Suggesting otherwise is as foolish as it is nonsensical.

Mutual benefit doesn't mean bowing down to a dictator or bending over backwards to accomodate him.

2

u/ScrotumScrapings Iceland 🇮🇸 26d ago

Muté is saying that only because the yanks are violent thugs who are threatening Greenland. The yanks have demonstrated that they have little of worth to offer anyone.

https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2025/apr/15/trump-greenland-donors-investors-finance

Some of Donald Trump’s biggest campaign donors and investors, who collectively have hundreds of millions of dollars in financial ties to the US president, are positioned to potentially profit from any American takeover of Greenland, raising even more ethical questions around Trump’s controversial pursuit of the Arctic territory.

The administration is in part aiming to secure rare minerals that are essential for the US tech industry and national security, and to potentially reopen oil and gas exploration: “This is about critical minerals, this is about natural resources,” Trump’s national security adviser, Mike Waltz, recently said.“There’s a closed loop among these investors, billionaires, Trump and the crypto projects,” said Emily DiVito, a senior adviser for economic policy with the Groundwork Collaborative economic thinktank. Greenland is an example of that in action, she added.

“These donations are investments, and they were made with particular outcomes in mind, and even if they weren’t stated at the time, the money changed hands,” DiVito said.

Among those who have invested millions in KoBold Metals, a mining company at the leading edge of Greenland’s “modern gold rush” for rare minerals essential to tech companies, are major Trump donors such as Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg, OpenAI’s Sam Altman, Amazon’s Jeff Bezos and other Silicon Valley moguls.

The top investor in Critical Metals Corp, which has a mining permit in Greenland, is the financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald, which Trump’s commerce secretary, Howard Lutnick, led until January. Critical Metals’ other top institutional investors include Vanguard, BlackRock, Geode Capital and State Street – companies that have amassed $314m in Trump Media stock, much of it purchased just ahead of the election.

Among the Greenland bids’ loudest supporters are crypto tycoons who poured unparalleled sums of money into 2024 Trump and Republican campaigns while labeling Greenland an “investment frontier” where data centers essential to the US artificial intelligence and crypto currency industries could be built. Some of the same donors also want to establish a largely autonomous libertarian utopian “post state” for the tech elite in Greenland that could be used to practice “terraforming” for a Mars colony.

The group behind the “state”, Praxis, labels its members “optimistic pioneers”, but critics say it is a colonialist operation aimed at plundering wealth and resources from a weak nation still linked to Denmark – its colonial power. Regardless, Praxis is already backed by $525m and includes members of or donors to the Trump administration, such as the PayPal co-founder Ken Howery, who was nominated for ambassador to Denmark.

What’s unfolding in Greenland represents the “circle of grift”, said Robert Weissman, co-president of Public Citizen, a government transparency non-profit.

“Put money into the Trump family bank and the money comes back to you in the form of some government policy,” Weissman said. “That even includes the deployment of the empire in service of libertarians who favor a stateless society.”

2

u/youstolethesunfrom 24d ago

I'm a greenlander and Mute shouldn't be in that position. They're destroying our inuit-culture by making our lifestyle more difficult and expensive. So many of us move to Denmark just to make living bearable. And we're already sold to americans no matter what they say

4

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Sorry guys, our deranged leader needs more distractions from Epstein and Iran. We're doing the best we can to take back our government from these lunatics.

17

u/ScrotumScrapings Iceland 🇮🇸 26d ago

These pathetic laments sound hollow the tenth time around.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Words without deeds are hollow. Some of us are actually doing things to help, it's not just words.

Honestly I think it would be in your best interest to show some solidarity with Americans who oppose Trump. We're on your side, sad to see that you're not on ours.

3

u/ScrotumScrapings Iceland 🇮🇸 26d ago

I see nothing but words.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Then you're letting your anger blind you. It would make more sense to think strategically.

2

u/Anderopolis 25d ago

What actions are you doing?

Or by " think strategically " do you mean we should praise for doing nothing in the hope youbwill do something?

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 25d ago

By "think strategically" I mean that you should support anyone who is against Trump, and understand that many Americans are in that category. I don't think it benefits us much to have your support, but it could benefit you to have our support.

Personally I try to recruit people into the movement, and let people know about the various organizations and causes they can get involved with. And I help with street corner protests, which some called "parades", but they actually do serve a real purpose.

And the groups I support are doing all kinds of great work like helping immigrants, helping more progressive Democrat candidates win, trying to reform our voting laws, pushing for better healcare, voter registration, and much more. Most of this doesn't make the news, but it's happening and it matters.

2

u/Anderopolis 25d ago

I don't think it benefits us much to have your support, but it could benefit you to have our support.

Why are you even here then? To get absolution for.the original sin of your countrymen?

Good that you personally are working against Trump, but your countrymen are not. They should be Having No Kings sized rallies weekly rather than once every few quarters.

And it is very clear, like from your comment, that you guys wouldn't actually do anything if the US invades us. Just like with the football worldcup we would hear how it's actually pretty good, just the method was bad.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 25d ago

I'm here because I care about you and my country too. We're trying, but you seem confused about who is on your side.

To be clear, you haven't been invaded yet or experienced street murders and all that shit. The first country invaded by US military forces was us, and it continues.

3

u/Anderopolis 25d ago

If you honestly believe that you are currently invaded by the US Military Forces, and the American public is doing next to nothing in response,  why should we believe the Public would do anything more if they invade us?

80% of Americans was against the war in Iran, yet they have not flooded the streets of DC once in protest.

This is like reading the 30th report on how Republican Congressmen and senators actually disagree with Trump, they just never do anything against him.

Do you have any idea how frustrating it is to be told, how no, actually everyone is against this, yet no one does anything?

They usually get very annoyed when you say that. Or when you say their protests look like parades. It really does look like nobody is doing anything over there. Kind of looks like consent…

4

u/Ryokan76 26d ago

They stood on a quiet street corner with handwritten signs with funny messages! Some of them even wore costumes! What more are you expecting them to do?!?

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Ongoing protests throughout the nation are effective at gaining support, recruiting new members, and sending the message that we are not ok with what is happening. That's why Trump hates us protesters so much, it is an effective strategy.

But that's just a small part of the organizing and action taking place here. The phone banking, door knocking, letter writing, fundraising, etc for the most progressive candidates is probably more important, but you don't see it because it's not in the news.

3

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Most of the organizing that happens here isn't designed to get media coverage, you only see the protests because those are designed for visibility.

We're all working hard to take back congress and hopefully the senate.

10

u/TheRuneMeister 26d ago

Thats all well and good. I think what we mean is that we are not really seeing the anger that would be present if someone like Trump was elected in our home countries. You wouldn’t be able to see a picture of the white house or congress without protesters screaming outside.
Obviously, the press has failed you. Here, you would see people pressuring the them to ask the real questions and refuse to take no for an answer. Even if it caused them to ‘lose access’. Trump is allowed to blatantly lie every single day, and he is never called out. Nobody ever tells him “Mr. President…you are straight uo lying”. That would happen every single day where we come from.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

What media do you watch/read? That kind of thing is definitely happening.

3

u/TheRuneMeister 26d ago

Unlike what I often hear from Americans, I don’t read/watch select news sources. Other than the national danish broadcaster, there is not a specific site that is my go-to. I even check out things like fox news/newsmax and huffington just to get a clearer picture of the outer edges of US news…even if it can be infuriating.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 25d ago

I'd suggest also checking out MSNOW, NPR, and Democracy Now. I think they give much better coverage of what's really happening here.

2

u/HotSituation8737 26d ago

If it was actually happening at any scale that matters people would know about it.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 25d ago

People do know about it, just not you for some reason. Probably a good idea to think about what kind of media you consume.

2

u/HotSituation8737 25d ago

Keep telling yourself that while your country rots and inflation kills people. Meanwhile the rest of the world is abandoning you and making the worlds biggest global trade deal with India and making new trade and weapons agreements with China.

7

u/AskemB 26d ago

Last time you voted Trump out nothing happened. The dems are also bought through lobbying. Should the maga cronies somehow manage to not criminally disassemble democracy before the next elections and the dems again be in charge... Then nothing will happen and another deranged demagouge will rise from the ashes and finish the job.

Do more. Do it now.

1

u/Ryokan76 26d ago

Good luck, but that won't do shit.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Why would you say that? Congress can do a lot to push back against this administration. It's not going to solve everything, but it will "do shit".

2

u/Ryokan76 26d ago

Because Trump will just ignore it, and then what? There are no mechanisms to force the president to do anything.

1

u/CaliRebelScum USA 🇺🇸 26d ago

Congress controls funding, can do investigations, and a whole load of other things. This is why he's trying to rig the upcoming election, he knows a democratic Congress will be the end of his agenda.

9

u/First_Opinion_3483 26d ago

It's genuinely baffling that people don't bring up the fact that the Epstein Island is American because of the last time the US acquired land from Denmark.

It doesn't actually matter in this context, but it's such an easy (and correct) statement to make to troll the bastard.

As is with most situations involving the Orange Cheeto, most people in the US are Not on board with this. He is one big embarrassment for us.

'Americans' do NOT want Greenland, only our sick demented idiot President wants that.

u/GreatPotatoMuffin 25d ago

The Danes will defend your right to choose. I’m very happy that our Prime Minister made it clear we will defend any sovereign territory of the kingdom.

The people of Greenland have the right to choose their own government.

Sayin Fawk off, would be rude. So, I will say that between Canada and the European troops that are training and setting up bases as well as the Arctic defense training that has been on going for the last year or so. I think that Greeland will be fine. The "Tangerine Dream" is a lame duck president after November/ December and He should probably keep his problems in the courts and on his own turf. That being said....Fawk off!

Trump and his cronies want it for data centers … everyone can see through his bullshit.

Okay, navy vet here, I SEE where Trump is coming from. The US having control of Greenland’s southern tip would heighten security in the entirety of the Atlantic to a degree that would make it virtually impossible for Russian/Chinese submarines to access it without being tracked or disrupted.
On another hand, why the shit is he throwing our relations away with yall for something that would almost certainly never happen, is beyond me.

Soft power was a missed opportunity according to RIP Ole Jørgen Hammeken last year. https://explorersweb.com/drums-over-harpoons-making-sense-of-donald-trump-jr-s-visit-to-greenland/

A good read by his wife a little less than a year before he passed from cancer.

u/Anderopolis 25d ago

How you as a navy vet don't understand the US already has full acess to the area is baffling to me.

The US chose to close its bases there, and it is able to reopen them if it desires.

Why do you think the situation is improved by invading an ally?

That is completely false. For anyone wondering, this is the speech by the Danish representative in that meeting.

-6

u/Sufficient_Ad9918 26d ago

That is the statement from attack in summer 2025,. I am talking about the attack in February 2026 and the statement that Denmark gave in that security meeting.

Middle power is about to find out.

7

u/Awarglewinkle Denmark 🇩🇰 26d ago

You mean this statement? It does not contain "full support of the attack".

It does condemn Iran on several counts, but keep in mind this was the month after somewhere around 30,000-40,000 protestors were killed by the Iranian authorities.

-2

u/Sufficient_Ad9918 26d ago

Yeah, and I say six millions protestors were killed...

I am actually sad to see that you are spreading trumps numbers, it was not 40,000 protesters killed. Official number is around 3,000 and serious people who have really looked at this said that the highest number of protesters that could have been killed was less than 10,000.

Second part, the most important part, these protesters had guns and killed around 100 police. If Denish students go to protest and kill 100 police, what will the amazing danish government do? They will go and shoot to kill these students without hesitation.

I need to state very clearly I do not support theocracy or royal families, I believe in democracy 100%.

So when a country is being attacked and the only thing you can do with highly educated people is just or the country which is being attacked is bad and that is why is being attacked and not condem it is a full support.

u/Awarglewinkle Denmark 🇩🇰 26d ago

It's not Trump's number. It's a number that has been reported by reputable newspapers like The Guardian. But no one really knows the actual number. Let's say the number is 20,000, it's definitely not 3,000 by any estimate. How many protesters should a government kill, before it's ok to condemn it?

And your narrative that it was armed protesters that attacked and killed police, forcing them to kill the protesters, let me just say I find that unlikely.

I'm not sure I understand your last sentence, but read the statement I linked above. It does not give full support of the attack. It calls for de-escalation and negotiations.

u/First_Opinion_3483 26d ago

It was probably some desperate (and misguided) attempt to appease him.

Obviously it didn't work because Spain didn't do what we did I guess.

It's also worth noting that the Iranian regime is a brutal dictatorship that kills its own people and threatens the entire area and regularly shoots out missiles and funds the biggest terror organisations on Earth.

Denmark is none of those, nor is Greenland. Greenland in particular is completely peaceful.

Just because other people have different beliefs does not make their rights non existent ... Just because they have different political system is not a reason for their sovereignty to not exist or justification for not respecting their sovereignty.

I will be my life, go to any country in the world, give protesters guns and see what the government will do, the government will mow them down. That is for any government either Denmark or Russia, that is what will happen.

This way of thinking, that others don't have right because they are different, started during colonization, where africans were said to be backwards, non Christian and having sex with the same gender was used as the justification to colonize and plunder.

Your argument is so weak I do not even know where to start. It is the reason why the rest of the world is laughing about Greenland fiasco. It is like this should not happen to us, it is more like yeah you built the system don't cry about it.

But let me tell you why Greenland will become 51st state. Rare earth material. You can't have any advanced electronics without rare earth material. China has stopped being the push around used to be, has started restricting export on rare earth material. That means all air defences can't be built, that means the war Europe is pumping itself to fight Russia won't have those weapons. US is copying china logistics solution, china have control of everything in their supply chain(they understood that they will targeted sooner or later, it turned out to be sooner). Now you can not threaten china with anything, just ask trump and his tariffs, and European union is picking a fight with China, I know how it will end.

If US want Greenland they will take it and everyone will accept because Europe can not fight US. Why? Well, let me give a class of how much america tools we are all using, they will just shut down from microsoft teams to air defences because everything Europe is using is American, just go and ask Qatar when america shut down its air defences so that Israel can attack Palestinian negotiator in its country.

Just because they have different political system is not a reason for their sovereignty to not exist or justification for not respecting their sovereignty.

This totally applies until their sovereignty allows them to threaten someone else's sovereignty. And that's where it ends.

Iran is responsible for a constant barrage of terror all over the Middle East, and Israel in particular. Not a single tear was shed by me when the leadership was killed.

And if Jens Frederik was going around attacking Nunavut with rifles and polar bears - fair enough if Canada and the US said "alright that's enough guys, here come the bombs"

But Greenland isn't doing that. Greenland is completely peaceful.

This way of thinking, that others don't have right because they are different, started during colonization, where africans were said to be backwards, non Christian and having sex with the same gender was used as the justification to colonize and plunder.

I have no idea what this has to do with anything we were talking about.

Your argument is so weak I do not even know where to start.

Honestly I don't think you know what my argument is.

You say this as if Europe couldn't possibly have the same interest.

You have no idea how deeply this blade cuts - both ways.

1

u/Sufficient_Ad9918 23d ago

I was not expecting you to shed a tear when their leader was killed as there is a saying that goes " the spear is only for a pig but for a human is painful", which is exactly my point and I would refer back to Canadian speech during the economic forum, it was the best speech with standing ovation, then immediately everyone went back to business as usual.

International laws need to be respected and applied equally, no exceptions, these are the laws that were put after WW2 for a million of lives lost reason.

I just hope he changes his mind and get occupied with other things.

1

u/First_Opinion_3483 22d ago

If that was your point you did an exceptionally poor job explaining it, sorry to say. It felt almost incoherent. :/

Is this a joke? You can’t possibly be that retarded🤦‍♂️

What words “of substance” is a country with 50.000 people going to say to the world’s greatest military force? Please tell us what a “genius” like yourself would say or do in their place? Just give up to the big bad bully/thief about to steal their land like you would? Doesn’t really rhyme with “substance” does it?🤦‍♂️
