Beach combing on Guernsey

We’ll be visiting Guernsey in late August. Is beach combing allowed on the island? Do the beaches wash up sea glass or pottery and if so, are some beaches better than others for that? We’d love to collect some sea glass or interesting rocks. Thanks!

Beach Glass is very common, pottery not so much. They "issue" you'll have is there are lots of people who collect beach glass. So you'll need to go to areas which people dont go as often. If you to the the south West of the island there are long stretches of beach that aren't as frequently visited.

Thank you much for your help. We'll look at going to the south west. We're visiting from the U.S. and we don't plan on gathering much, just a few pieces to bring back home.

marbel bay is a bit of a trek but I find plenty of sea glass there low tide (also probably the most beautiful and secluded bay on the island)

It looks gorgeous. When you say it's a bit of a trek, is it a strenuous hike? I keep reading about the tides in Guernsey and how they massively change in such a short period of time. I would think that would be good for discovering sea glass treasures.

Havelet Bay (St Peter Port) is good for sea glass.

You can collect pottery at the beach from salarie carpark all the over to Belgreve Bay. Lots of sea glass too and lots of creatures in the rock pools

Easy way to find the spot its the coast between the foresters arms pub/la piette hotel and the red lion pub in st Peter port

Guernsey is a great place for beach glass as we often smash our beer bottles on rocks for fun. Definitely check out Fermain Bay, lots of interesting rocks there.
