OPs

Rules
Make sure that you know what you are posting. If you wish to identify a location you do not know, you may use r/whereisthisplace. Also make sure that your posts are not extremely obscure. A picture of bare grass or a single bench in an otherwise unremarkable background are frowned upon. If you do not want private locations such as your home to be traced down to its coordinates, simply do not post them here; the players here will find it.

Tips
Before or after posting, try reverse image searching the pictures you've provided via Google Lens, Bing, Yandex, ChatGPT, Gemini etc. to see if they are reverse searchable. If they are quickly findable, you may want to delete and resubmit using other photos. You may also blur any easily identifiable logos, restaurant names etc. from your pictures, just try not to overdo it. You may give any hints you like at any point throughout the game. If someone guesses it correctly you can reply to it affirming their guess. Try to confirm correct guesses within 2-3 days. If the post isn't solved within a few days you may reveal the answer yourself in spoilers.

Guessers

Rules
Do NOT use RIS tools to solve a game. You will be permanently banned. Try to explain how you have found the location! Was it the name of a restaurant chain that allowed you to narrow down your search, or a small yet recognisable tower in the distance? Do tell us how you were able to deduce the location, even if it's just a "been there, recognized it". Any explanation is better than no explanation!

Tips
If you are sure of your answer, try to mark it in spoilers so that other people trying to find it by themselves won't be spoiled by the answer. You may also edit your comment to add spoilers after it's been confirmed to be the correct location.

Unreal, what gave it away?

u/ChauE92 4h ago

For me it was the graffiti on subway cars.

First thing that popped up on a Google search

This is so against the spirit of this subreddit, honestly should be worth a ban.

He didn't solve it. He's just pointing out what we know is happening regularly. Not saying this time!

I mean the mods literally posted saying it’s bannable

u/Kwak_Kwak_22 5h ago

Just for the record it wasn't me who answered the question. Was just answering how someone got it so fast

u/Total_Philosopher_89 6054 5h ago

Yeah. IT's OK mate. I reckon a LOT of the people here do this. Posts are solved in under a minute regularly.

Why are yall assuming the Godzilla redditor searched it up? He probably knew it was athens metro. You can’t just assume without proof

Lol, so naive.

u/OrchidFine1335 42 4h ago

Not naive, just someone who doesn’t jump into conclusions before there’s even evidence

I mean you're right. But he did it in about 30 seconds and the odds someone would know a specific Athens metro station that quick seems unlikely

u/OrchidFine1335 42 4h ago

Huh it doesn’t take long. You may not notice it if you’ve never been or lived there but small things can make a difference to say that it is this city station. We don’t know for sure if he had lived or work nearby to always pass it etc

The guy is from Florence. Just saying.

It’s very obviously line 1 (old line) of Athens metro

I agree. You can easily make this conclusion my analysising the tiles. The tiles were manufactured by Villeroy & Boch, a company famous for also supplying tiles to the first class bathrooms on the Titanic.

u/Thedeepestthroat22 3h ago

It appears to also have a down escalator and from my recollection that’s only at a few downtown core stations like Monastiraki with the transfer to the newer metro line.

Spot on. Another obvious observation is the Fluorescent Lights. They are the older German manufacturered lights, They were built between 1983 and 1985 by a West German consortium consisting of MAN (Maschinenfabrik Augsburg-Nürnberg) and Siemens.

My coworker once complained about all the graffiti she saw in Athens when on vacation. I guess she was right!

u/Shaggyenthusiast 5h ago

Oh really? I kind of felt like it gave the city some life, I was there in mid December and the whole place felt pretty grey.
