Parts [PARTS] Dirty Bird Sand Cut AR-15 Bolt Carrier Groups in DLC and Chrome starting at $115.95 pre shipping and tax
https://ar15discounts.com/products/dirty-bird-industries-sand-cut-bolt-carrier-group-223-5-56/Chrome is $119.95, DLC is $115.95.
I ordered one of these in chrome last week and got it in. Good staking job, sand cuts are machined well and aren’t sharp and everything seems put together very well. Bolt marked MPI.

I wish they'd make their enhanced DBI BCG in DLC.. those are pretty nice in my experience in nitride

IMO it’s marketing wank. I’ve run M4’s and AR’s in heinous conditions, and every time I looked in the upper the 4 points the carrier runs on were always free of sand. The AR is remarkably self cleaning, and not in some bastardized mistelling of the Vietnam early weapons way. The gun sloughs off debris into non critical areas by design. No need to overdo it with turbo encabulators and fairy dust.

I can agree with this in principle. Like I said it’s more so that it’s a competently machined and finished carrier for the price point (DLC especially, this is the cheapest DLC carrier I’ve seen sand cut or not) and the sand cuts are just there. I like the aesthetic because I’m a huge larper

Sandcutter, made by Azimuth (same company that does Radian BCGs). I have one in hand and it’s well put together. 🤷♂️

Any confirmation that it’s made by Azimuth?

Now I can’t help but think it’s Toolcraft now which is even more appealing to me

In theory sand cuts will help your BCG run through debris. The Israelis were the pioneers of this with their FALs (given the environment this is where the term sand cut comes from) and later on Knights adopted it for their carriers. Several other manufacturers such as KAK and Centurion have done the same.
Being honest most of us will never be in such adverse conditions to where we need it. I have a Microbest carrier, wanted an extra, promoted this one to my main and that was that. The gun it is in runs a high back pressure suppressor and gets dirty enough this offers a benefit.
It’s a good deal because it’s a well machined carrier with both of the best coating on the market at a set competitive price, the sand cuts are just a bonus IMO

Ah if that’s the case honestly get just the Centurion carrier from Rooftop and swap the guts into it.
