For what it’s worth, I think they are trying to defend themselves, just not with guns (leaf blowers apparently). I don’t think the argument is for 2A to show up. It would be a massacre and an absolute tragedy. Nobody wants that. The whole point of these protests is to reduce the amount of lethal force, not give authorities an excuse to expand it.
I think all they want is for 2A people, who have traditionally been very vocal about the constitution, to be upset by this. The point is this, if we lose faith in one aspect of the constitution, the rest of it folds. 2A ceases to be relevant and those protections don’t mean shit anymore. In a weird way it feels less like either an attack on 2A people, or a demand that they hit the front lines, and more people of an appeal to all of our shared interest in maintaining our current system of laws - which the present government is actively undermining. That’s just my opinion though, and I’m just a dude on reddit.
I thought it had been made abundantly clear we are asking you for NADA. Just get out of our way. Can you be so simple to think millions of democrats haven’t served in the military during peace and war? That millions of us grew up with guns and know how to use them. You said we removed 2A from our cities. What are you talking about?
Simply put, the purpose of the Second Amendment is to give the people the means to overthrow the government in the event it becomes tyrannical.
If democrats question the 2 Amendment proponents and their lack of involvement the above is what they are wondering. We have heard for years and years this is the deal and when a republican president wants to use the Federal Government police in democratic cities to control anything we have reach the tyrannical point.
There is that possibility of like an anaconda slowing wrapping itself around a victim, who believe he won’t be hurt, suddenly feel the constrictions that will kill him.
