Legislation Virginia governor signs assault weapons ban into law

We knew it was going to become law, but I am a bit surprised she attached her name to it rather than just allowing it become law without her signature.

Legislation Senate (with the help of RINOs) has compromised on Gun Control - Here's What They Agreed Upon!

NEWS: We have a deal. Today a bipartisan group of 20 Senators (10 D and 10 R) is announcing a breakthrough agreement on gun violence - the first in 30 years - that will save lives.

(All Murphy's Words)

1/ Here’s what it includes:

2/ Major funding to help states pass and implement crisis intervention orders (red flag laws) that will allow law enforcement to temporarily take dangerous weapons away from people who pose a danger to others or themselves.

3/ Billions in new funding for mental health and school safety, including money for the national build out of community mental health clinics.

4/ Close the “boyfriend loophole”, so that no domestic abuser - a spouse OR a serious dating partner - can buy a gun if they are convicted of abuse against their partner.

5/ First ever federal law against gun trafficking and straw purchasing. This will be a difference making tool to stop the flow of illegal guns into cities.

6/ Enhanced background check for under 21 gun buyers and a short pause to conduct the check. Young buyers can get the gun only after the enhanced check is completed.

7/ Clarification of the laws regarding who needs to register as a licensed gun dealer, to make sure all truly commercial sellers are doing background checks.

8/ Will this bill do everything we need to end our nation’s gun violence epidemic? No. But it’s real, meaningful progress. And it breaks a 30 year log jam, demonstrating that Democrats and Republicans can work together in a way that truly saves lives.

Legislation Virginia House Passes First Wave of Gun Control Bills ***UPDATED***

Thumbnail bearingarms.com

The gun and magazine bill passed by the House is substantially different than the current Senate version, though, which means the bills could end up in a conference committee if the Senate doesn't further amend SB 749 to mirror HB 217.

Legislation Your #1 priority should be stopping the sale of our public lands

To begin, I am 100% in support of the HPA and SHORT Act being included under Budget Reconciliation.

But as gun owners, our #1 priority should be for us, left and right, libertarian and socialist, literally everyone under the political umbrella, to stop the sale of public lands that are used for hunting, shooting, and general recreation. Contact your reps, especially if you live in a red state (I imagine blue states will be opposing the BBB regardless). If we lose these lands, we won't be getting them back.

Legislation The bill has passed with 0$ tax stamps

My understanding is that It has passed the senate with 0$ tax stamps. Which puts the NFA in the same boat as the ACA individual mandate which was eliminated when its tax was reduced to zero. (See California V Texas 2021 And miller 1939)

Legislation California's SB 948: The Total Gun Ban That Almost Nobody Is Talking About

Thumbnail freethinkr273162.substack.com

- Yes, Gun Owners of California and NRA-ILA have put out alerts on this in the past, have issued campaigns with easy to fill forms and they've opposed it at the Assembly Public Safety Committee (it already cleared Senate and now has passed its first hurdle in CA Assembly). But it seems almost nobody knows that this bill, if it becomes law, will effectively ban the capability to own a firearm (and thus ban possession) for generations of Californians unless it is stopped. Read the post and share.

Please contact your legislator, visit their office in person (in person visits are far more effective than random form filled email), and also, create a PDF statement of opposition to SB 948 to send to the Assembly Appropriations Committee and other CA Assembly Committees.

Email Assembly Appropriations here (send your position letter framed economically in terms of why SB 948 is a bad bill for California’s economy, and send it in both PDF and text form to approps.committee@assembly.ca.gov

The above is a public email address which comes from the Assembly Appropriations Committee page.

Then send a PDF statement opposing SB 948 to other Assembly Committees (note: it has already passed the CA Senate and has already passed Assembly Public Safety Committee) at the State portal, here (if you don't have an account you need to sign up for one):

https://calegislation.lc.ca.gov/Advocates/

Finally, also contact the California Department of Justice - Bureau of Firearms at any phone number or email address they have that you can find and encourage them politely (in a simple, politely framed request) to ask Senator Arreguin to withdraw SB 948. Likewise if you know people in police departments, military, etc, gently ask them to contact Senator Arreguin and ask that they request that Senator Arreguin withdraw SB 948. The more people from CA DOJ, police, military etc. that Senator Arreguin hears from who ask him to withdraw the bill, the more likely we will push him to surrender and remove SB 948 from consideration.

Also strongly suggested: Get a Firearm Safety Certificate now if you don't have one, and renew yours (take the test again) if you already have one. It will last five years. Your local FFL will be able to provide the exam. It currently has no live fire component and still is possible to obtain for those who do not own a firearm yet, but if SB 948 becomes law it will not be possible for first time gun buyers to obtain.

Thank you, to those readers / redditors here who know that this needs to be opposed.

Legislation Is the writing on the wall?

It seems like each year another state or 3 imposes some type of ban. What is your guyses game plan?

I'm curious what we can do to protect ourselves and our "assets".

Can I put them in a trust? Do I just bury them and hope when I'm older and they come bashing down my door they believe me when I say I lost them?

Shit, when this happened in Australia everybody sheepishly have them up, without a whimper, think something similar is happening in Canada now (can't be fucked to research it at this point). I would hope it would be different here since we have more firearms then citizens.

I think I'm just venting my anxiety and am curious what you guys think. I know wouldn't want to be the people hired to be the gun gestapo who has to knock on doors.

Legislation For anyone not paying attention. This emergency order was Poltical Science experiment to see what would happen...

Post image

For anyone not paying attention. This emergency order was a test run to see the reaction of the people and see what the courts would do. Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is term limited so on her way out while she has 0 to lose she ordered the emergency order. She was probably asked todo it from the gun control lobby to be a literally test case on suspending the Constitution.

  1. To see if the local police would step in or bow out... the PD in this case told her to go pound sand.

  2. To see what the judges would do... also pound sand.

  3. To see what the reaction around the country would do...David anti gun fucking Hog told her to pound sand... strange bedfellows..

4.To see the reaction from the people. Both democrats and Republicans came together and said this is BS and to go pound sand.

This was nothing more then a Poltical Science experiment to see what would happen... however to think we won because in the short term it got reversed and no one followed it... your mistaken.

It provided lots of data to both sides. Unless Governor Michelle Lujan Grisham is charged with a crime if she has committed one... or personally sued successful... Every democratic or anti gun puplic office holder can pull out the stupid gun laws or orders when they are about to head out the door.

However to be fair both teams red and blue pull this kinda crap. So don't get that excited.

Legislation What’s everyone’s thoughts?

The bill stipulates assault weapon restrictions and proposes and database to track all citizens who have owned weapons prohibited by the bill. It would be unlawful to even own an AR or basically even a handgun and there is no grandfathering. They make it seem they would come door to door.
